DH-80 Pussmoth

IIRC Frank Elton updated his FS2000 DH85 Leopard Moth for FS2004. They look very similar but I think one was made of wood and the other had a metal structure.

gotta love the moth family of aircraft, and that Gypsy engine soundtrack, heres my favourite in the family....

Yep, that's right.

From Wikipedia:

"The de Havilland DH.85 Leopard Moth is a three-seat high-wing monoplane designed and built by the de Havilland Aircraft Company in 1933. It was a successor to the DH.80 Puss Moth and replaced it on the company's Stag Lane and later Hatfield production lines. It was similar in configuration to the earlier aircraft, but instead of a fuselage with tubular steel framework, a lighter all-plywood structure was used which allowed a substantial improvement in range, performance and capacity on the same type of engine."

Interesting that de Havilland bucked the contemporary trend and replaced a metal structure with a wooden one. Fitting, I suppose, for the firm that would later bring us the "wooden wonder," the Mosquito.

So you could paint Frank's Leopard as a Puss, and nobody could tell the difference. You could tweak the flight model to reflect the performance difference.

Dear Milton,
have you planed to make this one for us :icon_lol: ?
Regards, Michel.

Yeah a Puss Moth for FS9 would be nice...(a Fox Moth or a Dragonfly would even be better)..I made a scale rubber powered model of a Puss Moth many years ago...

:wavey: Hello Michel,

Well, first I try to convince LionHeart to make it. If no, then I try to get NCGENT to make it, if no, then I try to get Pointy31 to make it. :wiggle:

If still no one does it, then I was thinking about making this an SOH project down in the Design forum for new gmax users.

If there is no interest, then I will ask Piglet to put it at the bottom of his list, number 263. :isadizzy:

If he hasn't done it by the time I get my 4 aircraft done, then I will put it on my list for consideration along with the Cessna 140, the P-63, and F7F.

a community build is a great idea, not just that one the fuselage is finished along with wings you can bolt new bits to it and modify, so you could have Puss Moth, Moth minor, Thruxton Jackaroo, Tiger Moth, Fox Moth and a few other oddities, seems a great idea to me as the modifications to Tiger moth to get the sub variants is great...

CBFS have a series of Moths. DH-60, DH-85, DH-87 and DH-89. Also have a range of Austers as well. And all port over to FSX quite nicely as well.

Cheers
Pat
