Finally gave in and bought Colin McRae DiRT2, and it's an absolute blast!
Plenty of races, challenges, events and cars to choose from. Works very well with the Logitech G25 (But not with the gated shifter) and the 'feel' is pretty good. Probably the best game to do powerslides in I've seen so far.
No real events though and most races are short, from 2 to 5 miles long. Not much time to correct mistakes! Race types are inspired by rally, rallycross, baja and stadium events.
The sounds are OK, but it is nice to hear the other drivers make comments over the radio. Graphics are great, though the motion blur is not as noticable during the game as it is in the screenshots.
Some screenshots; the logo in the corner shows up all the time during replays:
Interior view; looks great, but with all the dirt, dust and water flying around and the ocasional crack in the screen it can become quite hard to see anything:
My stock class Ford F-150; if you hit the barriers you'll see the spectators jump back!:
Subaru Impreza during a rally event in Marocco:
Head to head with Ken Block in Japan:
Rally in the jungle of Malaysia; the junlge looks as good as it does in games like Crysis!:
My Dodge stadium truck:
Racing through a town in Marocco:
Hummer in Malaysia:
