I have to point this out as I only found out about this by looking at The Sun this morning. The word jet does not appear in the piece in the paper, although the planks in charge of the website got it wrong.
 
Anyway having looked at the stuff on both the news pages and found practically all comments referring to the headline, what a fantastic find!

The only known example of the type in a decent enough condition to be raised by the RAF Museum and restored. Not only that but it will be the only genuine Battle of Britain German bomber in the collection. Their Stuka is a D series, the Ju88 is an S series nightfighter and the He111 is an H-20 transport.

Another interesting tidbit that I did come across is that this aircraft is possibly one of those brought down by 264 Sqn Defiants.
 
I guess the crew escaped/were recovered?...otherwise it'd be classed as a war grave,surely, and would be left where it lies?
 
Not necessarily,a few years back a French farmer drained a swampy area and found an American P-51 with the pilot still in it.The wreck was recovered and he was returned home I think.It was a very solemn affair with the locals showing a lot of gratitude and respect.:salute:

the wreck has been known about for a long time. Quite a few bits have been recovered from it in recent years. i hope they end up in the RAF Museum.

Two crew members were rescued alive from the wreck, the bodies of the other two crew members were washed ashore later.
