Do you like Animae? Have you seen 'Appleseed?'

Hey all,

If you like to see animation movies and SciFi, you MUST see 'Appleseed'. It is one awesome, brilliant bit of fiction with incredible graphics. Some of the scenes are just incredible and the futuristic settings are awesome.

If you have iTunes on your rig, you can purchase Appleseed there for $10.00 and its on your rig to watch whenever you want.

CF, ChaCha, this might be for you. Tim, I am sure you have seen this a few times already.

if you like watching animated stuff look for a movie called "grave of the fireflies" have some kleenex handy, it's very sad. the animation is nothing special but the story is.

Roger that CF. I'll look for it.

Another good one, is the Ghost in the Shell series. Nice animation work, wild story plots and technologies. (Like Appleseed, this takes place in the future).

Robotech, The Last Exile, Appleseed.... (these I know you've watched)

How about:

Air Gear, Alive, Zoids, The Wings of Honnêamise, 0091, Sailor Moon, and a lot more... LOL :engel016:

Do you want my list? :icon_lol:

Appleseed
Vexiville(sp?)
Zipang
Cowboy Beebop .You go Ein!
Desert Punk
Flag
Black Lagoon
Skycrawlers
Last Exile
I can go on and on....

Full Metal Panic
RaXephon
Neon Genesis
Burst Angel
Eureka 7
Gunslinger Girl
Mezzo DSA

That's some of my collection.

About Appleseed, I'm assuming the 2004 movie and not the 1988 OVA ?
I've watched both and while I liked the OVA, the movie just blew me away. If you want your mind completely warped and sitting in a WTF? state, watch all the episodes of Neon Genesis :isadizzy: I did that last summer while recovering from surgery, the pain killers made it even trippier.

I recently got to see blood the last vampire (real action version) and was mightly impressed by how good it is and how it stands up to its anime counterpart.

If you havent seen either the anime or the live film, i highly recommend both. The anime has a shed load of CGI backgrounds etc with the anime characters seemlessly imposed over the top.

Oh, I can't watch that one again...Too darn sad. Great movie though.
Kinda like "Schindler's List" for me, one time movie. The girl in the red coat...

I have the 1988 "Appleseed" DVD right here.

Some others off the top of my head....
"Robotech" (Was a Battletech fan)
"Ghost In The Shell" (See he re-made it, need to watch that)
"New Dominion Tank Police" (Okay, I like the little tank)
"Blue Submarine No.6" (Love the style)
"Akira" (I have a model of Kaneda's bike sitting on top of the computer right now)
"Cowboy Be-Bop" (Although, like "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", I can not watch the end episode).

Eeeks!

Arrigatto. I will not watch the last episode either.

Why do directors do that.. Man...

I agree, great series. I have only seen perhaps 3 or 4, back when SciFi channel played SciFi related material, besides rock monsters and aligators. :d

I need to copy/paste this list!

Thanks Brian.

Macross is definately a classic.

I remember when it came out over here in the States.

I heard rumours that the Japanese had huge toy models in Japan of the actual Macross ship. Something like 4 feet long.

Ghost In The Shell
Jin-Roh

My only two ventures into the world of animé...except for "Rock 'N' Cop" as a child.
Anyways, I never really liked the graphic and narrating style of most animés, they however paint quite nice worlds and tell interesting stories (Jin-Roh...).
I might watch the odd one if there's one late at night on TV but spend any effort to hunt one down? Nay.

I also forgot about PlanetES. Series about orbital junk removal and space exploration.

Aquarion Age
Vandread 1st and 2nd stage
Heroic Age
Star Blazers
Galaxy Railway 999
Space Battleship Yamato series
Gravion Zwei
and many more...

My anime collection is around 120+ titles and growing. So I can not remember them all.

Brian

Your anime collection is almost as big as my manga collection. I think it fills two book cases and I just the first two volumes of Death Note and the first two volumes of Witchblade among others today. I love the look the twentysomething counter help gives me when I walk up and drop about a hundred bucks in manga at the register. Especially since I'm pushing fifty and have a full beard that's 90% grey:icon_lol:

Oh yeah I totaly forgot about Area 88 and Akira. I still have my bootleg VHS of A88 that I bought in 1989, no subs, no dub, all Japanese dialogue. Add to the fact that it was all hand drawn the WOW factor in the aerial shots goes way up.
