• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Does a good 24 hour online Server for FSX with a community exist?

Thanks guys...

Maybe in the new year I will slowly look at getting my feet wet. :)

Do pilots and thier rides ever congragate (virtually) at places like Emma Field in Vatsim?

Charles.

Yep.

For example, the OSHKOSH flying club. We normally fly short cross-country flights under VFR, very low and slow. Arriving at the same airport with half a dozen other pilots and holding in the pattern while you watch everyone land one at a time is a blast.

This is exactly what I was thinking about!

The FSAddon Publishing server has been running for years and is hosting quite a number of 'flying clubs'. I too am one of those people that can't be bothered by all the rules and regulations of VATSIM and IVAO...... got enough of those in rela life already thankyouverymuch and am not a proficient airline pilot.

That's why we started the Emma Field Flying Club ages ago, and it turned out to be the pioneer for hundreds of such clubs.

On-line flying without much rules, no hassle, just fun.... and pretty much up to the participants as to what level of rules and reality they want to introduce. :ernae:

I don't know anything about setting one up. Have always thought a dedicated computer was needed for a server? Am clueless....

NC
If your computer is strong enough and fast enough you can run a server and FS on the same machine if not then yes you would need an other CP for the server. I run our MAC servers on a different machine and connect to them like anyone else would. All u need to do is get some one to host a server.

That's a good idea. We need one for military flying.

over at UKMIL, we have run a 24/7 FSINN server for a long time now. most of the time is it just open to use as you wish, with NO ATC to worry about. Occasionally, there are events with ATC etc. There are no rules and people just fly online with a MILITARY aircraft and have fun

Obviously, if more were to join online, then it would get bigger and better

We NEEEEEEEEED to get a SOH server up in 2010!

The semi-official Sim-Outhouse online home has been up for a couple years now (minus a few months when lightning blew up the rig).

FSHost server open to all SOH members.
Midnight Aircraft Parts Emporium
IP: mape.gotdns.org
FS2002/FS2004 and FSX by using FSHostClient

DangerousDave also has another server with several sessions on it as well. If you check down in the Multiplayer forum here you should find the address and ports to his sessions.

For more info on FSHost client, visit
http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/fshost/?fshostclient.html

Sim-Outhouse runs on a Linux server, so it's not feasible to run an FSHost server here. In the meantime, feel free to use MAPE or Dave's servers.

Very interesting thread. I haven't flown for a few years now, so this would be a good way of retuning my skills for a low cost.
