Does anybody like to paint?

A couple of years ago I hired out this guy to paint my house. I just have a little bit of trim on the right side and on the bottom floor under the windows plus the windows. Anyway all the paint has just about peeled off. So I went ahead and scraped and sanded everything. Use a good primer and the final coat. What really burnt me up was he musta used bottom of the line crap-o-la paint. I guess if ya want something done right ya might as well do it yourself. BTW, I hate painting.

I'm in a similar boat. Last year I was going to paint parts of the house but a water leak drained the bank and soaked up weeks of time repairing the damage. So here I am again searching for enough money to buy paint and hoping to get some time off in good weather to make some headway on the outside again. I don't much care for painting either, especially high up.

He should had offered at least 3 different choices in grade of paint. He, sorry to say, went with the crap.

All brand name paint manufactures, Behr...Sherman Williams, Dutch Boy, Sears, etc., put out a pretty good line of paints. But for the money,...and probably the most costly (but worth it) is Benjamen Moore paints. Hands down. And for an excellent exterior primer,...I've always gone with the Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer for all surfaces.

painting sucks

When I bought this house 20 years ago it had the LP siding, which if you lived in an arid area is ok, but here in the PNW it swelled and seperated. So taking the nickel on the dollar settlement had the house sided in vinyl siding and have not picked up a paint brush since. One day a year set aside to powerwash and done. Now if could just find some vinyl siding for the inside, so the wife would not be bringing all the color swatches from Lowes

Vinyl siding with aluminum trim here. Every 4 or 5 years, start up the power washer and hose it off. No problem.

I dislike painting with a passion. I'll help my wife by painting the primer coat, she does the rest.

It's about time to paint the outside of the house....two stories. We WILL be hiring a painter.
