Yesterday morning my dog Haney was just fine, until I fed her an un-opened 1/2 can of dog food, kibbles and bits, a neighbor gave it to me because her dogs would not eat it, I did not know this at the time. I froze the other 1/2 can.

Haney got instant diarrhea within 1 hour and this went on all day, well last night about 10 PM she started pooping blood, wow I knew this was not bad.
I took her to the doggie ER well we are now home and now officially broke.
She is now sleeping I think on her bed and it is touch and go on weather she will pull through.

My house needs cleaning and a lot of washing stuff she made a mess of things, and I am wore out.
 
Unopened can ? Looks like you may have some sort of claim here, Ron. What did the vet say ?
 
Dang, do not feed Haney with something you do not know.
Check expiration dates too!
Check ingredients! (I do not trust anything I can't read!)
Poor puppy, You rest and take care of business when you both are refreshed!
 
I am very sorry to hear of your puppy troubles..
I would be checking with the vet to see what can be done to recover your money..

I do Hope the pup will be okay soon, and you also may recieve some rest from it all..

I always check the cans of dog food also..

sorry to hear this Ickie,,,,i sure hope Haney makes it ok..im pulling for the pup and for you...this sort of thing is never easy..just show haney some lovin anddo get an idea of what the vet thinks happened

I pray Haney pulls out of it Ickie. Horrible to have a loved one ill. Bad food is never good.

I have one ole puppy here (my sisters dog that we are taking care of, Juniors dad) that is coughing up! I have never heard of a dog coughing before. He has a flu of some sort. Giving him cough surrup and flu med. His coughing spells last quite a while and are pretty loud.


Again, I hope Haney pulls through. Please keep us updated.

That just aweful to hear about your pup. I hope everything turns out okay.

The closest I ever came to losing a pup to food was after going thru a fast food drive-thru window and they handed me one of those name brand dog treats that they keep handy. Within a short while after my pup ate that thing he started throwing up and then eventually couldn't stand. On the way to the pup ER I thought I watched him die in my lap at least twice.

He pulled through just fine, but needless to say ever since then I never let my pup eat treats or food from others.

When I went back and told the fast food place what happened, they stopped handing out dog treats immediatly.

We'll be thinking about Haney this evening.

I froze the 1/2 can of kiddles and bits, for the future.
The vet says very little but salmonella looks very much a possibility.
It took all day to clean the house from her messes yesterday, I sure am happy I bought that deep extractor steam cleaner now.
Haney stopped the bleeding and pooping at about 4 AM and she drank water and ate a little food around 10 AM, than she slept all day and is still snoring, poor dog she had a ruff 24 hours.

Thought I would ask how Haney is doing. Glad to hear the bleeding stopped and she is drinking water.
 
Haney pulled through, she is just fine now and is out hunting, lol, she never rests, always on duty.
