More pictures to come from this evening... I'm blowing off another day of work tomorrow to see them off.... Yep, I could lose my job, but... Jobs will come and go, how many times will you get a chance to see 20 B-25's take off one after the other?

Larry, if you don't know the history of that P-51 February, look it up... really neat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpsAaK0p0ig

WOW! THANKS WITTPILOT FOR THE STORY OF LT. BROOKS. AMAZING ACE AND REAL DOWN TO EARTH GRANDFATHER. i REALLY WISH I HAD KNOWN THE STORY BEFORE I GOT TO THE AIRSHOW. I WOULD'VE TRIED TO TAKE ALOT BETTER PICTURES. THE PICTURES I HAVE ARE REALLY SMOKEY FROM THE BOMB RUN SHOW PUT ON BY THE DOOLITTLE RAIDER. THEY REALLY MADE THE SHOW! OF COURSE HATS OFF TO THE BLUE ANGELS, THEY ARE ALWAYS GREAT TOO! MORE PICTS OF "FEBRUARY", P-38 AND ANOTHER P-51.

Got up at my normal 4 am time and instead of going to work, I headed to the airport... only to find that even though I checked my battery status bar on my camera, my battery was essentially dead once I got to the airport... Yep, lesson learned. I won't ever make that mistake twice. It's a little late to put up more photos, but I uploaded some to my facebook page and I can just post a link to the photo page...

Still experimenting with imageshack. I will post just a few. The one is of course my brother in Gentleman Jim. Ray let him up in the cockpit for quick morning photo op!

I was able to drive over to the museum Wednesday to see the fly-over. I think about 50,000 other people had the same idea and we all arrived there at the same time, or so it seemed. I was able to bring my Mom, an 89 year old veteran of the RCAF, on the 70 mile trip from Columbus. As we were being directed onto the grassy area next to the regular parking area, the B-25's were taking off. The gaggle of planes circled the area about 3 times as the planes got into formation. About 5 planes trailed the main group and never did quite catch up as the planes made their fly-over of the memorial garden at the National Museum of the USAF. There were 2 fly-overs. Then a four-ship group did a "missing-man formation." Then came a 45 minute wait to get out of the parking area.

I took a quick video of the first flyover. The quality isn't the best as I had made up my mind earlier that I wasn't going to witness the event through a view finder and just pointed the camera in the general direction. I was more interested in getting a recording of the sound more than anything. I also thought there's be at least a few dozen posts on YouTube that would do a much better job as well.
