FS2004/FSX Dornier Do-31E3 VTOL-transport aircraft. Only two flyable Do-31 was built, but only the E3 had the ability for vertical take offs and landings. She was the only VTOL transporter in the world that era and she flew 154 successfully test flights between 1967 and 1970 until the project was rejected for strange reasons. Today the Do-31E3 is displayed in the Deutsche Museum Munich at the historical airport Oberschleissheim, just 70 km from my hometown and so I had the chance making many detailed photographs. My FSDS-model is extremly detailed and the exterior, 2D-panel, VC-cockpit and virtual cargoroom are all photorealistical. Many external and internal cameras will show you the best sides of this amazing aircraft. The model has 55 moving parts and is easy to fly. This is a whole airplane, made by Erwin Welker.

looks fun :applause:

cheers ian

Wow, how superb is this!

I have been told many stories about the DO-31 as a child. My Stepfather worked as a young aerospace engineer at Dornier in Friedrichshafen during this time.
Thanks to Erwin Welker for this fantastic model.
She flies extremely well and stable, a real delight!

I have incorporated the DSB/Sigma effect controller from their freeware Harrier, and now have throttle controlled 3- directional smoke effects.
The engine pods now also work independent from the main engines, controlled by the flaps position.

Here the modifications:

Add a new panel.cfg entry:

//---------------------------------------------------------
[Vcockpit05]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=256,256
visible=0
pixel_size=256,256
texture=$Dummy

gauge01=Harrier_GR7!Effect Controller, 0,0,1,1
//-------------------------------------------------------

Replace the light and smoke sections in the aircraft.cfg:

[LIGHTS]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing

light.0 = 3, 14.60, -29.50, 6.75, fx_navred,
light.1 = 3, 14.60, 29.50, 6.75, fx_navgre,
light.2 = 3, -29.70, 0.00, 21.70, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm,
light.3 = 2, -2.00, -28.30, 7.60, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm_2,
light.4 = 2, -2.00, 28.30, 7.60, fx_shockwave_strobe_sm_3,
light.5 = 2, 17.80, 0.00, 5.80, fx_shockwave_beacon_rotating_red,
light.6 = 2, 20.30, 0.00, -4.55, fx_shockwave_beacon_rotating_red,
//light.7 = 4, 25.41, -1.00, 2.80, fx_vclighth ,
//light.8 = 4, 25.41, 1.00, 2.80, fx_vclighth ,
// Exhaust:
light.9 = 8, 12.0, -28.2, 4.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.10= 8, 4.0, -28.2, 4.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.11= 8 5.0, -16.0, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.12= 8, 3.0, -10.0, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.13= 8, 12.0, 28.2, 4.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.14= 8, 4.0, 28.2, 4.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.15= 8 5.0, 16.0, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.16= 8, 3.0, 10.0, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokedown,
light.17= 7, 5.0, -16.2, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokeangle,
light.18= 7, 3.0, -10.2, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokeangle,
light.7 = 7, 5.0, 16.2, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokeangle,
light.8 = 7, 3.0, 10.2, 1.0, fx_dsb_smokeangle,
//-----------------------------------------------------------------
[smokesystem]

smoke.0 = 0.0, 5.0, -15.0, fx_dsb_smoke
smoke.1 = 0.0, 5.0, 15.0, fx_dsb_smoke
smoke.2 = 0.0, 3.0, 9.0, fx_dsb_smoke
smoke.3 = 0.0, 3.0, -9.0, fx_dsb_smoke
//-----------------------------------------------------------------

This only works in FS9, and an installed Sigma/DSB/Iris freeware Harrier is required, but it certainly brings a bit more realism to the fun!

Regards, Stuart
