Dornier has just announced the release of the SeaStar.........

Someone in the design department fell asleep reading about the Do18!:engel016:

Picutres of Do-18

Yes, the Do-18 is embedded in all flyers memory..............

I think that is why I thought it was good viewing.................pusher puller engine, above wing engine, flounder/bannana looking body style...............Dornier is doing that for a very good reason.......its what got them in the history books and it was a timeless design.

Imagine being in 1930's, just after the depression, and a Do-18 flew into your local lake or seaport. Ahh the future............must have been like seen the space shuttle land.

Interesting, the new Dornier is made out of composite material...............which is not subject to corrosion (well not an oxide)

As the press release article says, seaplanes were abandoned largely because of corrosion.............sea water got into everything.

Here is a players cigarette card ..............I still have a box of these somewhere. My parents didn't know what a closet flyer I would become by giving me these to collect. I attribute these card for the addiction to CFS2.
