Down Grade plan for Windows 7 users

i thought they were ending support for xp?
i love xp, but i don't see me downgrading (when i get a new computer someday) to an o/s that is no longer supported.
 
Free support comes to an end on the 14th. Updates and patches will continue to come out for a good while. Extended support will continue for a good many years.

MS only discontinued Extended support of DOS in 2005 or 2006. Don't laugh it was the mainstay for voice mail systems for years because it was so stable. NEC only discontinued using in on their inskin voicemail systems after MS discontinued support. Then they went to a linux based OS which in the begining had its share of troubles now it too is very stable.
 
I always sweat a new OS because of the legacy driver issues like Vista had. I always expect imposed DRM schemes that will limit making CDs and the like even in compliance with the Fair Use regulations. I have a sizable collection of PC games many of which I still like to play now and again so the incompatability issue is always a concern. I will need a new computer soon but will likely keep an older XP driven one for older programs. I probably won't adopt W7 for a time until it is more widely used to see what surprises still remain undiscovered in it. From what I have read, it seems encouraging. I hope MS has learned a lesson from Vista. :typing:

I don't mean to sound impolite but....all this ranting about Vista is Utter Nonsense,I wish you guys would spend just a little bit of time actually learning how it works instead of just trashing it outright.I have had NO problems with the 2 Vista laptops I have had in the past 16 months because I took the time to go here http://tweakguides.com/
and I learned how it works,how to set Vista up and why it does certain things,thus my present laptop runs like a champ.

When you use an OS in high speed, looking up files fast, interacting and roaming through the HD(s) as fast as possible, and suddenly you are FORCED to use a new OS that was stumbling, telling you that you CANT do certain things, deleting files, staggering files in a folder instead of neat rows.... and no computer company would sell you a computer that could run XP....


And.......................... and.... AND... you have customers every other day asking why your download is corrupted and come to find out vista is turning a ZIP file into 'something else' when you download something over 200 megs.. (even a member of Aces couldnt download one of my planes with vista because of this. It took Download Manager (freeware) to bypass the built in, awesome, cool flaw of the brilliant, shiny, well engineered v-word.... )


Yeah.. I learned how to get it off my hard drive...


For people that boot it up, play a game, check email, its fine......

For people that really use a computer hard... heh...


EDIT: Got me going on that one.. lol. deep breath.. I used it for a year. I learned all I could about using it. I gave it chances. To me, its junk. XP makes it look like its in the dark ages.. You can have it. :d

One of the major problems, as is always with this sort of thing, is sample size. Same works with car brands, models, etc. Just a few people's experiences are statistically invalid. You can of course choose who to listen too and trust more. My experience with MS so far is to skip every other OS they come out with. It has been working great for me so far... I just hope Windows 7 doesn't let me down (or my theory goes out the window).

Windows 7 is just around the corner, I'm not in the market for new hardware. I'd be nuts to invest any time or money in to Vista now, unless anyone can come up with a compelling argument?
 
The thing is I do use my computer hard and have never had any of those problems,I moderate a video sharing forum and download,edit and reupload more then 200 gigs of files a month.I have never lost any,had any corrupted,or had ANY problems.

So I say the same,go to the link I posted and read and learn.
 
I like Windows 7 as well... best beta OS I have ever seen lol.

Now what MS did with Vista was to answer all the security critics... ok we will lock things down and make the OS less vulnerable. We will leave the options to the user to open things up.

So they did that with Vista... and people now complaining about how they can't do anything.

Sucks being an OS maker... can't keep anyone happy.
