• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Download library very slow

Roger

Senior Administrator
Every time I have downloaded anything recently from the FsX download library I can barely get better than 18 kbs. From the old server I would typically get 100 kbs at least. Am I doing something wrong?

Ya might wanna look at the entire Alphaoldies archive- ALL generate the '404' error, been doing it for weeks now.

Three different files downloaded (thanks Piglet) and I am getting 150 KB/sec down load speed.

Test your download/up load speed and see if it is off par from what it should be.

I am not sure what site you would use but in the US I use http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ I access the Atlanta GA server.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 1356 kbps (169.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 213 kbps (26.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

I checked on the server and it has its normal Blazing Fast connection. So it should be OK. What I did find is two of the other Admins are logged on. One of them it is his task to upload the missing files. If he was doing a lot of uploads that might explain the slow period you experienced.

If you try again and find you have slow down loads then it must be a problem with a segment of the internet. I think (not 100% sure) the servers are in Dallas which means a problem between you and it could degrade the download speed.

Same tonight. Here's a screenie of my download speed from the FsX repaint library:

For a moment there I thought this was going to turn into one of those Browser wars that I so much Hate.

But I checked the transfer rates in Firefox which I had been using and IE which you are using.

Both were about the same.

I am at a lose as to what it is but I can say its not the server.
