.dp help...

With regards to the PZL P-11 'c' model...

I am frustrated by the lack of gun convergence. You have two guns firing from the sides of the fuselage, and two firing from the gull wing. You end up with convergence on two separate vertical planes, and if you are firing with the bottom ones, the top ones fly over the target. You are also climbing during this process. Likewise, if you fire with the top set, your bottom guns fire under the target, and you are in a dive during the process.

This can be problematic close to ground level. Is there any way a convergence can be set up with the top guns firing down, and the bottom guns firing up, so that you have a single cone of fire?

Here is the relevant .dp section from the Polish fighter...

After the work on the AC-47 miniguns, ...I noticed that my std. 3 MIL "showerhead" for wing mounted MG's was lookin' a little tight.

After reviewing copious gun camera footage, ...a 6 MIL showerhead matches up the best.

This is where the inner and middle guns are 3/4 of 3 MIL (radius) on the far side of the circle, ...and the outer gun is 3 Mil (radius) on the inner side.

The inner and middle guns are also 3/4 of 3 MIL (radius) below and above center respectively, ...and the outer gun is center.

........RM............LM

LO.............................RO

........RI.............LI

This gives a dot that is:

- 6 Mil. (6 ft dia. @ 1000 ft)
- Degrades rapidly past 1000 ft. (MAX engagement range as per '44 U.S. NAVY doctrine)
- makes a better, ...more uniform pattern at closer range.

The 3 MIL pattern was as per John Bolt for advanced pilots, ...but he also admitted that the 6 Mil pattern was more common w/ average pilots because of the increased chance of any hits. (vs. consentrated hit or miss)

It seems to work better in CFS2 as well.

After I get done "Payin' the Man" (what the hell, ...he's family...), I'll finish the conversion of the rest'of'um.

Gun elevation is:
1.5
and
-3
Positive number points down, negative number points up.

Convergance:
0.045
and
0.2
Positive points to right, negative points to left.

Try this one:

I know you know how to set up "standard" gunstations in general Rami, so here's a easy tip:

Create two more separate copies of the dp. Delete the top guns from one and the bottom guns from the other. Be sure to renumber the GUNSTATIONS sections of both. Open "top guns" dp in AIM_IT and set the convergence range (ft) and drop the elevation to -0.50. Save it and then open "bottom guns" dp and set range and in this case raise elevation to 0.50.

Save and open all three in notepad windows and merge the edits into the original.
