Drone camera controls advise

I only have my HOTAS connected and I have tried to use my keyboard for positioning the drone camera. But using the keyboard (default layout) is very clunky. I guess using a controller would be easier or is there any other suggestions?

Personally I would have loved to see a simple WASD + mouse way of doing it.

Another thing, I find that some aircrafts are not centered in the external view.

With regard to the drone camera, my suggestion/greatest advice has always been to find an Xbox One (or newer) controller and use that. I was fortunate to have already had a couple Xbox One controllers prior to MSFS being released (to save batteries, I've ended up purchasing a chord for it). With an Xbox controller, it is as simple as plug-and-play, since the drone camera functions are already pre-programmed by default to work perfectly with an Xbox controller, making its use with the drone camera very natural (like controlling a real drone/RC vehicle) - with not only the ability to move anywhere/everywhere, but to also rotate the camera with ease, change the camera exposure with ease, and other functions, all just using the default Xbox controller bindings.

I use //42 Flow with my "track ball" mouse. I've programmed the Flow wheel to pop up when I hit "/", then select camera with a mouse click, another mouse click to select view I want...out side view...then mouse click "x" to close Flow window and push mouse wheel. I can then use the mouse track ball to fly around the aircraft and the mouse wheel to zoom in and out. To reverse process, push mouse wheel and use Flow to get back into pilot seat.

It is way more complicated to write about it than to do the couple clicks in the sim!

John's method sounds great also if you have an Xbox controller lying around.
