Off the subject but how does one when veiwing files in windows change the default veiw to "Detail" ? I am embarassed to say I have asked this question here before but it was a long time ago, but I've gotten older and slepted a few times since then. My 1 year old Grandson ran amuck on my computor today and changed some things more to his taste, no real damage done, except to embarress PaPa by making him ask this question again. I am usually his Co-Pilot but "Little B" has learned to open doors and he's a hell of a lot faster then I am. Oh to slip the surly bonds of earth and be young again!

In Windows Explorer along the top there should be a View Menu item or Button Icon which gives a drop down selection of the different folder views including details. If you don't see the Button Icon, right click the Menu bar and make sure you have the Standard Buttons selected.

Understand that, currently "Tiles" is the default veiw, I want to change it to "Details" how do I do that?

Open up (let's say) your Documents Folder. Then,...go to the top where 'View' is located. Click it. Then you'll get the drop down menu. Select 'Details' and click it. That should do it.

Ahhhh, I think I know where he's going... :salute:

Now once you have changed the view to Details, you want to make it the default for all your folders?

Then look under Tools, Folder Options. The second tab is for View where you can apply the view for that folder as the default for all folders.
