• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

i opened a folder of a downloaded plane with note pad and now all of my downloads have the notepad icon and i cant do anything with them,they've changed to zip files instead of folders.how do i change them back.
 
Ok...

1) Go to Control panel.

2) Go to "folder options"

3) Click on the "file types" tab

4) Then, look for "folder" and "file folder" lines, make sure they say (NONE)

If they don't, try deleting them from that screen. That should reset them.

5) Reset your computer to clean the slate.

Then, just be more careful next time! :whistle:
 
ok rami,i got to "folder options" but cant find "file types".
 
Change the extencion, if you know this!

need select in opcion, the enable visual extensions!

does anybody know anything about vista?

Vista is great once you have disabled UAC and turned off many of the animations and services. I've had Vista Home Premium for a year now and I find XP SP3 very clunky when I have to use it (at work).
It sounds as if you've associated folders with the .txt icon. Reassociating it back shouldn't be too difficult with an "open with" command.
 
I had that too with Vista on ocassion...I think a restart helped me ....
 
vista 32 and vista 64 had no problem with CFS2 runs like hell, If you have a powerfull system ! with lots of RAM!. I sugest for Vista 3-4GB RAM, I use 8GB with Vista 64.

tried a restart but no good.when i open up the changed files i get a load of unintelligable crap on the screen.just need to know how to change it all back.
