After a well guessed course correction, we hit landfall at the western end of Paupa New Guinea. From 25,000 feet my copilot was able to make out the island of Pulau Numfoor, at least we assumed it was.
So, one last course correction and shortly we found ourselves coming up on Pulau Supiori.
All in all it wasn't a bad dead reck job. I estimate 4 hours and 30 minutes and came in 30 minutes earlier due to a drop in head winds. My initial wind correction angle would have come out right had I checked the winds again just prior to takeoff.
Landed finally. Weather was worsening, visibilty down, all I would expect in this part of the world. Winds picked up on approach and I certainly will be complaining about the 60 foot tall trees at the approach end of the runway!
Cloudy flight into GSP but pretty easy once situated in the valley. Turning onto final I'll admit that I crossed my fingers that this was the right airport.
