Duxford BoB 70th airshow piccies all of 'em

Some great photos thanks for sharing them! I have to say I am rather jealous, I would of loved to of seen (and heard) 16 Spits in air. Two Buchons as well! Was the desert camo example static of have they got it flying? Here are a few photos in return that I took last week at Cosford..
 
Is it a trick of the light (I think so) or is that Mossie really painted Dark Earth?

Cosford is excellent Chris, I spent ages just sat gawping at that early early mk1 spit they have, beautiful.

Here's a couple of the Spit as a reminder for you Clive. Would this mark of been fitted with a two blade propeller originally? When I first saw it I couldn't work out why it looked a little odd then I realised the canopy is different to later marks. Looking forward to seeing the video and to the BoB install! PS Clive if you want to use my airfield layouts you're more than welcome. I really need to think about making some more.....
 
Wow some really professional photos there Major! There were some serious camera kit being toted around on that day. I couldn't get any stills of the red arrows, I'm afraid too fast for me lol.
 
Hey nigel at least you have an excuse in that your not in this country.

Jeff that looked like an amazing day, as nigel said there is no better sound that makes me get a lump in my throat than the sound of those beautiful merlins. I would never get tired of hearing that sound.

Chris, what you've got there is the earliest production type! Normally the bulged canopy appeared about the same time as the variable pitch 3-blade airscrew, so your comment is right - it would originally have had a Watts wooden 2-blade screw. Modifications appear to have been made as new parts became available - I've seen a row of Spits with both flat and bulged canopies and three-blade screws. Other things to note are the original type of TR9 radio mast without the shroud, and the twin prong pitot tube under the wing. Done up like that, it's typical of early-mid 1939 - talking of the paintwork as well.
