Small two-seat monoplane floatplane capable of being carried in the Type B submarine. It could be rapidly assembled for launch and then carry out recce missions and most famously bomb the forest near Wheeler's Ridge about 30 mile or so from the town of Brookings, Oregon, USA.The pilot on this occasion was Warrant Officer Nabuo Fujita, his observer was Petty Officer Okuda Shoji.

Othe recce flights were over New Zealand, Australia and the Aleutian Islands.
