Early Messerschmitt Bf109 B, C and D in progress.

Hi Folks,

Well to maybe brighten the feelings, something I've been working on, which I think might be useful for the early war mongers of you. A Bf109 B, C and D models. These were used in the SCW and Polish campaigns, and home defence/training during the BoB. I'm initially doing this for Fs9, and then over to CFS2, loads of LODs, so should be good for FR's.

Lots to do, come to really like this early Me and I'm not that partial to a 109!!

Cheers

Always welcome Mark:applause:, & not just used in Poland

Some used in Norway after the German invasion ... others used as Home Defence (both day and night)

Shessi,

Very nice, thanks for the efforts on this! One request if I may...

Any chance you could do this model? (And a multi-lod seagull)

Indeed 10.(N)/JG 2 was still equipped with Doras when they participated in the invasion of the low countries. And Doras remained in use as second line fighter by this unit during the Battle for France, operating from Eindhoven airfield, until the end of June!

The SGLO crash date base is a register with all crashes during the second world war over the Netherlands. There is an entry of a crash in this database of a Bf109 B (!) from Ld.Kdo.61 at Leeuwarden on the 4th of June 1942, due to tire damage. This aircraft was destroyed at this airfield during an bomb raid.

There is also an entry of a crashed Dora from ZS2 at Soesterberg on the 24th of November 1942.

So it seems some early Bf109s had a very long life :biggrin-new:

Cheers,
Huub

Rami,

Well you never know.........(What flavour do you want the seagull to be? ;))

Funny you should show that film clip. In May we stayed with some friends near Turre, Almeria in SE Spain. We did a bit of off-roading and came across a small airstrip about 4 miles away. Disused for years, with a derelict control tower and buildings. When I got back I looked it up out of interest, and discovered that it was THE airstrip used for all the ac that were flown in the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade film. They used the airfield, surrounding valley and scrub land for the action shots, and got into trouble as the local authority thought the explosions would cause a wild fire!

Mark,

Wow, talk about kismet. I had no idea!

Wow! Shessi, nice modeling. :encouragement:

I'm glad to see that you are such a good aircraft modeller because I need your advice. I'm attempting to "improve" the Ah spit mk1 vc and have run into a "mdl" conversion problem. I'm using the latest mdl convertor, blender and the fs2004 SDK. I get a too many vertices error when I try to convert the "3ds"or "x" file back to "mdl" format. This error also occurs when I try to convert an unaltered "3ds" file.

Any advice?

Hi R,
If only I had those skills..ha ha. This, the Kawasaki float planes and the Ar234 are all ex-IL-2 Sturmovik models. I explained before that the process to get them into Fs9/CFS2 is a long and fairly complicated one, BUT doable. I then spend a lot of time altering, tweaking, adding and subtracting to get what I want. Having said that over the years I have learnt a lot about modelling, scasming and what works and what doesn't...So PM me to discuss and we'll see what we can do!

Cheers
