Easy Kills

Worthless

SOH-CM-2025
I remember a thread some time ago about Tough Ships, and how hard it was to dent some of Usio's ships. Now I have a question about aircraft. I've noticed how easily the stock and OH stock versions of the D3A1 Val blows up and burns. Even with weapons effectiveness set to NORMAL a couple of passes in an F4F3 and she's toast. The same AC from the 1% collection is a different story. Shoot it full of holes and it flies on. And the rear gunner, meanwhile, is turning your airplane into a sieve. I mean that boy doesn't waste a single bullet. Now that can't be right. I know that the Japanese aircraft were un-armored and not nearly as rugged as allied aircraft, so I'm guessing the 1% is too tough, but is the stocker too weak?

I haven't done a side by side comparison of both DPs, but I've examined the DP of the 1% AC and noticed the first system line is entitled aircraft whereas the same line in the Stock DP is for the nose.
So, somethings different.

1% - "system_name.0"=Aircraft

stock - "system_name.0"=Nose Structure

Anyone got an opinion of which comes closest to the real thing?

I think you are comparing apples to oranges. Remember: The battle damage and weaps effectivenes for 1% planes are different. The 1% planes should only be paired with other 1% planes and weaps should be set on "strongest" and flight model set on "hard"- that is the way they were designed. Mixing them with other aircraft and/or other settings will not give the realistic effect you are looking for.

Try the 1US_F4F-3 against the 1JA_D3A1 with weapons set on strongest and see waht happens. Keep us posted on your experiments. :salute:

"system_name.0"=Aircraft

As I understand it, ["system_name.0"=Aircraft] was developed to stop the multiple a/c spawning after severe damage was incurred.... BEFORE some good soul discovered that this was actually due to the inclusion of damage designator numbers:

[IE: effect.3=95,LIBRARY,fx_airexpl_m,
effect.4=100,BREAK,
5, ]

Removing ALL of the numbers [Nose, Wings, Rudder, Elevators, Aft Tail] Also stops the multi-spawn effect, and made the
["system_name.0"=Aircraft] unnecessary.

Hope this helps

As I recall, the 1% planes were intended for on-line flying. The 1% DP was an attempt to level the playing field among the various players involved in a battle. Cheating was a constant complaint with that activity and the 1% DP went a ways to solving that issue. I never flew on line, so I really can swear to it and it's been a while since on-line CFS 2 was popular, but I think that's the story.

I used to fly on-line regularly and even was a member of the old AvHistory "Club 1%." In their passworded games, no other planes but 1% were used because of the differences and the RealityX module was always used. On the slightest hint you were cheating you would get banned. In non-Club 1% games with 1% planes, cheaters would abound. I can recall one "player" who liked to use a so-called 1% B-25H that could hit people regularly at 1500 M and follow a fighter through a 7G turn without disintegrating (the 1US_B-25H was rated at max G of 3.2 0r 3.4 - I can't remember exactly).

The planes worked well in the couple of singleplayer missions I built, but only when used with their AvHistory 1% peers. With the right settings of weaps on max they overpower stock ships too easily.
