Hello there,

After installation of UTS, REX, I get that (pix below) when I reload an aircraft after starting FSX (or after any action in the main menu)...
Initially after FSX start, I get 30FPS(locked) and everything is normal; after loading a different aircraft or going to the menu, back to the main screen, My FPS have dropped to 5-10 and I get these scary piece of aircraft...
Have you had any similar weird experience ? Any ideas of what might cause this strange phenomenon?
Thanks a lot for your help!!

That is a texture problem ..... do you have have a texture.cfg file in your texture folder for that aircraft repaint?

You will find that if you look in the folder there will only be a few files concerning that repaint. The texture.cfg file links you to all the other files necessary for that aircraft.

Cheers
Pat

It looks to me like an almost out of memory thing.....

But its probably a conflict with the two programs you are running...

Maybe try rerunning the UTX interface...

Then the Other one (REX)

Wow, some modern art collectors would pay a fortune for that!!

It looks like a conflict, try un-installing both add-ons and possibly deleting your main FSX.cfg file (FSX will make a new one, but you will have to re-set your settings again) and install each add-on one at a time.

I got this instability before.
Each time I would go to the menu, or each time I would change the aircraft, or each time I would switch to windows and come back to the game, the performance would crawl and the aircraft would look like that, more or less.
My aircrafts were all fine on the disks, no textures missing at all.
It was my BufferPools tweak in the FSX.cfg that was too high.
I set it to a lower value and the stability came back :)

I'm not sure which is more awesome in a possible tie for second place, my L-39's flight control surfaces going on strike and having a meeting in the fuselage, or the huge parachute on the Mirage... but really... the giant head must win first prize. :)

If you have the /3GB switch in your windows boot.ini file you might try removing that. I see you have a 1GB videocard. I have a similar one, and using the /3GB switch without adding a moderate "/userva=" value after it, like 2400, I get that same problem. For me it's a case of FSX trying to stomp over some of the video card's shadow ram in main memory. If you have that switch in place try removing it. Other causes as stated are missing textures or texture.cfg files (but I doubt it in this case), too high of a bufferpools value in the fsx.cfg file (more likely), or just general lack of memory (other apps running).

Good luck!

Hi Guys and thank you very very much for your help! I will follow your very smart advice and will try to squeeze the giant head back into the cockpit of the J41! (You are right Mike, this one wins the first price of the scariest airplane in the world! and thank you again for your help :ernae:)

i wish i could remember how i corrected it but i had a similar problem years ago before sp/2 came out. at dafb i used to occasionally see an ai bonanza that had no wheels, one prop was on top of the cabin, and the lights were well off to the sides of the plane.

Thank you so much everyone ! It seems as you mentionned that it came from a buffertools too high value (I had 150 000 000.....). I came back to 8 000 000 and fsX works fine so far... The giant head has deflated and is back behind the left side window.. (only captain's head can inflate so much sometimes!):ernae:
