Elevators.

Is there any way to adjust their sensitivity? I have one aircraft that is a bit over reactive. It's way too sensitive to the stick. Is there any adjustment in the aircraft.cfg file I can fiddle with to smooth this out?

David

in the airfile under table 320 there is a couple of entries for elevators ( unless you have one of those genius FSX airfiles that are blank and into which not one ounce of real thought was placed ). reducing either elevator force or deflection will reduce the response you experience..

Some aircraft.cfg have a flight tuning section. Here is one as an example...

[flight_tuning]
cruise_lift_scalar = 1.0
parasite_drag_scalar = 1.0
induced_drag_scalar = 1.0
elevator_effectiveness = 1.0
aileron_effectiveness = 2.0
rudder_effectiveness = 1.0
pitch_stability = 1.0
roll_stability = 1.0
yaw_stability = 1.0
elevator_trim_effectiveness = 1.0
aileron_trim_effectiveness = 1.0
rudder_trim_effectiveness = 1.0
p_factor_on_yaw = 1.0
torque_on_roll = 0.5
gyro_precession_on_yaw = 1.0
gyro_precession_on_pitch = 1.0

I have doubled the aileron_effectiveness on this aircraft.

Roger is on it.

You can lower the ailerons setting in your case to something like 0.5 or 0.2, etc..

If it is the aircraft being unstable, such as porpousing, you can adjust / increase pitch stability.

Thanks guys - i'll give it a shot and let you know what I come up with. I'll try the cfg first. I don't have a air file editor installed so that will be my last resort.

Thanks again.

David

I dropped the elevator effectiveness to .75 and increased the pitch stability to 3.0 and this has helped considerably.

Thanks again. SOH to the rescue!

Why didn't you just adjust the controls in the options settings in FSX? You can save your various different configurations in FSX and you don't have to mess with things ;)

CBris - messing with things is what MSFS is all about. If I could not tweek aircraft I would have dropped this hobby years ago. :icon29:

David

PS: I don't think there is an aircraft in my hanger I have not "messed" with is some way or another. And from what I've seen/read here at SOH I would think you would be hard pressed to find many who do not "mess" with settings. :monkies:
