so, i no longer have my old email address, all i have left is a yahoo address and a hotmail address...
but SOH informs me that both them are banned. what's up with that?
 
Too much spam is generated from those domains (plus Gmail and others) so it is far easier for forum admins to apply a blanket ban on them rather than trying to deal with thousands of spam posts from those sites each day. The vast majority of the larger forums on the web use the same process so you may find difficulties elsewhere too.

I would suggest contacting one of the Admins here by PM and they should be able to clear you through the blocking filters as you are a known 'good guy'. :icon_lol:

I will also refer this post to the Admins on the Staff forum on your behalf.
 
Yup, Tako covered the reason why we've had to put a damper on registrations with webmail domains. Pesky spambots.

Send myself or another Admin a PM with the email that you want in your profile and we'll update it for ya.
 
I checked mine. It is set to a Yahoo mail. It may have let me since I'm a Charter Member 2011.

Seriously, there's a significant cyber threat, and unfortunately not all the tools currently in the box defeat certain aspects of that threat. So, admins often take more fundamental measures.

At some point, I'm sure SOH will be able to accomodate these addresses again (I'm not speaking for SOH mind you, just for the the network defense community in general).
