Ending Campaign Missions?

I know this is a stupid question, but.....

How do you end a mission in OFF, apart from dying or crashing?

I land, I turn off the motor, I come to a stop, and then I just sit there. Forever.

Finally, I get bored with this and hit CTRL-Q. This takes me back to the main campaign screen and there's an option on the command bar at the bottom to replay the mission. Cool! That's how I'd expect it to work.

Unfortunately, there's a problem. The date and time on the clock are the same as when I took off, and I'm slated for another mission. When I look at my dossier, it shows nothing of the flight just done.

Then I run the replay. It goes along just fine, faithfully recounting all events, and shows me coming in to land. At that point, an error message pops up, as shown in the attached pic.

And guess what? Not only is there not an OFFLog.txt file anywhere on my system, but there's no \CampaignData folder, either.

So am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? I'm running Vista 32 with UAC turned off and I'm the administrator and sole user of this system.

To exit the mission, hit the Esc key and a menu should drop down from the upper right corner. There you can "End Flight", among other things (I recommend taking a look at the "Handbooks").

On my install, which went right over a Phase 2 install, the CampaignData folder is in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData and I have a OFFlog.txt file in there. Perhaps there is something botched in your install, but I think the game wouldn't run without the CampaignData folder.

I knew I had to have missed the command somewhere. Thanks for pointing that out. It isn't mentioned that I can find in the fs.pdf file, though.

I got a CD CFS3, patched to 3.1a, and installed P3, patched to 1.1. Never had P1 or P2.

There is no c:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder at all, just folders for CFS3 and the solitaire games that come with Windows. The CFS3 folder has nothing in it except a \feuropa folder and an .xml file of the same name.

I have, however, found the OFFLog.txt file (funny that Search didn't turn it up). It's in the c:\ODBSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData folder.

Oh well, I'll try the ESC\End Flight thing. Thanks again! Have a drink on me :ernae:

Ahhh... you use Vista...? I use XP. I bet that is where the error is coming from. The program is looking for the file as if you run XP where the folder setup is different. I don't have an OBDSoftware folder... but then again, maybe that's just because I just used my Phase 2 install... dunno, but interesting.

Well, I returned to the campaign and picked "Refly last mission". Got the same mission, flew it again, landed, and hit ESC/End Flight. It worked! The mission happened, time advanced, and all that.

Only problem is, even though the flight was logged in my dossier finally, I got zero time credit for it. Is that normal with reflies, even if the 1st time through wasn't ended correctly?

Good question. I don't know. I've never done a refly.

When you do not have OFF P2 installed then the installer installs it in "C:\OBDSoftware\". When you have OFF P2 installed then the installer upgrades your existing install so OFF is in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\". This is regardless of Windows XP or Vista.

The missions are finished by hitting Esc - Officers Mess. Reruns of the same mission do not count for the campaign. Just move on to the next one.
