Engine Sound Mod

Hi guys, wonder if anybody can help. I want to start an aircraft, lets say the default C172 & I want it to play a music MP3 instead of engine sound. I have tried with the startup sound config but it only plays about 10 seconds of music then it loops. I want to play a whole tune then loop. Is there a way of getting it to play tunes in sequence? My project is to have a plane/car in spotplane view, watching ai & other planes and have continuous music playing instead of engine sound.

Any ideas of what & where to mod?

I don't think that you can do that....the air file and sound config file work in conjunction to pull up the various starter, start up, and rpm sounds. The best way to go about what you want to do is to mute the sound in FS9 and play the music through Media Player or what ever music interface you use.

engine sounds

Is there any way to get the sound.cfg file to play a longer audio file? I really do not want to use another program to play audio. Cannot I change enginestartup or any other engine sound files? Such as renaming a sound clip to engine startup?

There is a limit on how long (big) the wav files in a sound pack can be. And there are other variables involved (air file, the sim hard coding). Really ain't any way to do what you want to do that I know of. Using a dedicated music player is really your best (and most likely..only) option.

Just a thought, but why not get one of the "radio/cd" players for FS that loads as an instrument (radio)... set it up with the music and then go into the sim settings, reduce the default sounds (engine, etc) to minimum, start the a/c with the radio player running then save as the default?

I use RL Clark's Radio/CD Player gauge to listen to music when flying. Either with a music CD in or using preprogrammed buttons on the gauge that are pointed at MP3s on my comp. The buttons work best if your music is on a different HD than FS. I've installed it as a popup gauge on all my favorite aircraft.
