EPA Destruction

Its to bad their contract is up and they have to move...

It would be nice if they could just clean up the land, and keep the buildings intact ... A lot of history will drop to the ground....I for one have always wanted to visit there, and now will never make it I'm affraid...

Agreed, the land and waterway could be cleaned without destroying the historic buildings.
The US gov should learn from the British who are quite good at preserving their historic sites.

I'm afraid this is always the case with the "progressives" in society. I'm a member of a Civil War Preservation Society and am aware of those who for one reason or another can not embrace "things of the past", that seemingly hinder "progression".

However, at the same time I can understand the need of the EPA to want to restore the waterway ... the total cost of remediation of that site is going to be phenominal.

I hope Boeing is working with the museum in locating future storage facilities, for the sake of historic preservation.

Mason, it appears from the maps that the Museum is not located on the property to be "reclaimed" its just the warehouse (former manufacturing plant) that is being raised by the EPA decree,) the museum appears to be safe for the moment. You may still get your chance. It'd be a great bike run to say the least, from NC to WA state tour the museum and then bike back. If I still had mine, I'd love to join you on that.

There appear to be enough warehouse/storage/hangars in the area that if a contract can be found and finalized , I'm sure the planes in repair could find a new home.
