ERROR: image "dlgstd.bmp" cannot be loaded ?? Help!!

FS2004 will not start. I don't understand why I am getting this all of a sudden?

Help?

dlgstderror.jpg

I found the file in the uires folder. Although it's named dlgstdtrans.bmp
....I opened it with DXTBMP and here's what it looks like. But why is it causing this error all of a sudden?

Here's the bigger shot so you can see it. http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/9937/error1h.jpg

I renamed dlgstdtrans.bmp to dlgstdt.bmp and tried the sim again. I still got the error in the first picture but, the sim started this time?
.....But now it looks like this at the start screen?

Please don't tell me I have to reinstall :kilroy:

Ole Boy

There should be a file called dlgstd.bmp and one called dlgstdtrans.bmp. Mayhaps your dlgstd.bmp file got abducted by those pesky Gnomes that have been playing havoc world wide. I have zipped up a copy of the dlgstd.bmp file and will attack it to this thread for you to save to your system, unzip and drop into your UIRES folder.

Tim

Rename the dlgstdtrans.bmp that you renamed to dlgstd.bmp back to the original dlgstdtrans.bmp before dropping in the file I attacked. You need both of them.

Hi OBIO,

Thank god for other FS9'rs to the rescue:salute:

I will try it!!

That did the trick!! I will save that file for the unexpected.
...THANKS!! :jump:

By the way, what could have caused that to happen? Last time I was running the sim all was fine. Go home Gnomes!! :rocket:

Never will I do something like this again (well, no guarantees..lol) I was browsing some disks I have and found a file called UKVFRLibrary, so I opened it to see what was inside. I found an installer and a text file that reads

KVFR Library Installer
-----------------------

Run UKVFRLibrary.exe and follow the prompts.

This will place four files in the main FS9 folder:

UKVFR_README_FIRST.txt
UKVFR_README_FIRST.doc
UKVFR Controller.exe
UKVFRInstallPart2.exe **** Important, see below ****

Shortcuts will be placed in Start Menu/Programs/UKVFR Library and on the desktop to:

UKVFR_README_FIRST.txt
UKVFR_README_FIRST.doc
UKVFR Controller.exe

UKVFR_README_FIRST.txt/README_FIRST.doc explain how to operate the UKVFR Library Controller.

The UKVFR Controller allows the user to:

1. Install the UKVFR Library into FS9.

2. Switch between the UKVFR Library and your currently installed autogen without uninstalling the UKVFR Library.

3. Uninstall the UKVFR Library completely and restore your original files.

4. Switch between splash screens.

5. Link to the VFR Addons and AGenT web sites.

To run the controller, select Start/Programs/UKVFR Library/UKVFR Controller or double click on the desktop icon "UKVFR Controller"

******************************************************************************************

UKVFRInstallPart2.exe is used by UKVFR Library Installer.exe during the install operation.

It should NEVER be run by the user.
OOPS...I RAN THIS!! :icon_lol:

So, I started it up. It appeared to be an installer for scenery objects, or something to that affect. I followed the on screen prompts and installed it. Well, I had no clue what it installed. So I fired up the flight sim and went to see. I saw nothing but errors right from the start. Now I have to figure out how to uninstall this mess

After getting myself into this mess I decided it was time to read a few documents (see attached)
...Though it's not much help as it doesn't tell me how to remove the thing.
...Do these guys have a forum somewhere where I can ask them?

Hi,

Methink it's a simple installer .. just placing files in the respectives folders and nothing happend in the registry (nothing important at least)
So you can simply delete the created files described below ....

This will place four files in the main FS9 folder:

UKVFR_README_FIRST.txt
UKVFR_README_FIRST.doc
UKVFR Controller.exe
UKVFRInstallPart2.exe
**** Important, see below ****

Shortcuts will be placed in Start Menu/Programs/UKVFR Library and on the desktop to:

UKVFR_README_FIRST.txt
UKVFR_README_FIRST.doc
UKVFR Controller.exe

Hi Claudius.

While the files may be simply deleted, they are activated in the library and can not be de-activated or removed. Until I can figure out why I won't manually remove anything.
...The UKVFR Library Controller has buttons to press that should take me to the support forum. http://216.86.146.46/default/400.html But all I get is an error "bad request" when I try to go there.

I'm guessing, but I think I have the good start at getting somewhere http://www.visualflight.info/
...It appears that all links are no good

Edit- This install program seems to be for the UK2000 scenery. Which I don't have, or, if I did, would not install going based on what has happened so far. I don't have any desire to fly over the pond unless that happens with freeware. Even at that, I doubt I'd install it.

So back to the problem. Does anyone know of a link to the support forums for this VFR stuff?

I found the support forum. Registered and posted my issues. Hopefully this kodak moment can get resolved

Thanks to the help from Mike over at the UKVFR support forums, my dumb move was fixed. I couldn't have figured it out myself. From the lack of responses here to my dilemma, it pays to speak to the developers who know first hand (one would hope) how to fix any issues.

Thanks again Mike!! :ernae:
