This only applied for VISTA users, XP users do NOT need it to host or join servers for VISTA players.

Requires the original CFS3, OFF Phase 2, and the recent full ETO and the updated 1.02.

Remember, always keep your main original (vanilla) CFS3 folder free from patches and additional aircrafts when adding addons. If you have these installed, removed them before attempting to install an addon or two. I know most addons (like OFF, ETO, MAW, and PTO) would each copy the main CFS3 folder and make its own folder without modifying the main CFS3. Firepower 1.08, does NOT (it modify the main CFS3, so be careful). There is a way to get around with that if you have the Firepower (thanks for the Multi-Install utility). PM me if you need help with that.

I advise you to read the documentations very carefully when installing OFF Phase 2 and ETO (with the recent update 1.02). Make sure you test each one properly before going forward.

And now for the basic,

OFF Phase 2 has a file referred as Shell.exe [which was probably a stock CFS3.exe renamed but somehow actually get modified every time you open the shortcut Over Flanders Fields (OFFManager.exe)]. This is useful if you have accidently delete the Shell.exe file. If you do, simply copy cfs3.exe from you vanilla CFS3 folder to your OFF folder and renamed it Shell.exe. Open the shortcut Over Flanders Fields to initialize the new Shell.exe and you are recovered.

If OFF Phase 2 is working as it should, here what you do to make it work for the ETO addon:

Copy the Shell.exe from your OFF Phase 2 folder (example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields) to your ETO folder (example: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion).

Then edit the MASTERETOSTARTUP.bat located from your ETO folder to this: Change the cfs3.exe to Shell.exe

@ECHO OFF
CLS
CALL ETOEraSwapper.bat
CD "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\global_layer"
CALL ETOGLSwapper.bat
START Shell.exe

Save the .bat file. Click on the ETO start shortcut and you're good to go.

Please note: I had trouble saving the .bat file again. I even deselected the Read-only box but it didn't work. What I did is save it under a different name like, MASTERETOSTARTUP2.bat, and create another shortcut pointing this file instead. If you do this, remember to select "All files" (NOT a Text file) and ending the file name with the extension .bat.

Guys (and Ladies), it has been long ride for me (taking a short break from this, but I'll be back). I would personally like to thank grizzly50, DOS-Maximus, and zorax2 (my first VISTA beta tester) for the additional testing and recommendations. They had been a great help in getting this off the ground, finally! Of course, many thanks for those who had spread the words. Thank you.

Of course many thanks for the makers of OFF Phase 2 (Phase 3 have just come out!), ETO, MAW, PTO, the Firepower 1.08, and many more to come!

SOH, thanks.

***warning***

Folks,

I have managed to squeeze a brief time on this puzzle, and I had made a new discovery.

Some of the good folks here has PM me about the possibility to make this work on Game Ranger. At the time, I did not have Game Ranger until I had first installed it this morning and did a brief test....

Now before, I have responded back for those who PM me to do a possible trick: renaming the Shell.exe to cfs3.exe

Game Ranger is only picking up that file (cfs3.exe) under its option. I thought this trick would make it work. I was wrong.

The problem is NOT Game Ranger... Yet, Microsoft must have another trick in its hand, again.. <sigh>

When I about to install Game Ranger on my XP desktop to do the testing (after I had already installed it here on my VISTA laptop), I thought I would do one more test by doing the regular IP-to-IP method....

I have made a grave discovery.. This method (renaming Shell.exe to cfs3.exe) would make the new file inoperable in VISTA multiplaying. In fact, it would act exactly as the original file!! So I decided to rename it back to the Shell.exe, which it was. And then, it work again (able to join again)!!!!

I apology for those who have tried this method.

The only thing I can think of, now, is request Game Ranger to incorporate the ability to choose another .exe file (beside the main cfs3.exe) to make it work.

Take care.:faint:
