ETO, a virus?!

Avira AntiVir found C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\CFS3 ETO Expansion\CFS3 ETO Expansion BDP Zapper.exe and called it TR/Drop.Peace.BE a trojan???

Check the rest of your system in case you have anything else there, but some AV packages don't like the BDP Zapper. Norton doesn't mind it at all and it's an important utility for ETO.

hi gamemaster, my avira picked out the same thing today, also the "eto backup" one, cant imagine there is a virus in it, had eto installed four months now and just yesterday it picked them out.
By the way, you can take it out of the quarantine folder in avira to put them back

I have had trouble with Avira and have installed and un installed it over the issue of false positives, AVG too, many of the virus programs dont do too well with some files ....for a number of reasons.

I had Avira remove the BDP Zapper, because the readme said it doesn't need it anymore after ETO is installed. Maybe Avira thinks its a trojan, because its a comand prompt used to delete the .BDP files from the ETO installation, same with the ZX Zapper. Not sure why it thinks the Backup is a virus, it doesn't do that for me.

Stand by for trouble swapping eras in ETO, afaik the ZX zapper is needed when swapping sceneries between eras.....

I've had no troubles changing eras even though I've deleted both the BDP, and ZX zappers.

Symantec AV decided the ETO BDP Zapper was a trojan this morning and quarantined it. Tried to undo it but doesn't seem to take.

ive never had a problem on such till last week ... im afraid its strnge since never before had it removed the zapper till last week .. from system.


now im without and seem till able to play and add on eto .... not sure what to do

Defender Pro cleared out the bdp zapper from all my various installs of CFS3 except the one for PTO. That version it thinks is just fine. Go figure. :isadizzy:

McAFee Total protection 2009, yesterday quarantined ETO BDP Zapper saying it was a trojan ??????? Two weeks ago my pc crashed and I had to reinstall alot of my installs. It crashed right after I had gotten off line with an IP cfs3 game. I hate to think there are people using the IP games to hack our PC! Is there a way to protect our PC if this is happening? If SOH was hacked what would stop them from doing the same thing to us that are using SOH and flying on line?

I don't play multiplayer, and my antivirus (Avira) has been alerting me about the bdp zappers of late. If something is going round - I don't believe there is, not in the MAW/Solomons/ETO bdp zappers, anyway - it doesn't spread like that, IMHO.
