ETO campaigns question

First off, full disclosure: I posted this exact same question over @ simhq. After posting it over @ simhq, I got to thinking it would probably get more relevant eyes on it over here, so that's the reason for the double post. It's a bit of an internet faux pas to post the same thing on multiple sites I think, so I wanted to be upfront about it. :)

Wherever it gets answered first, I'll copy the answer to the other site so as to not waste people's time!

So, I installed ETO following these instructions (which were wonderful, btw)...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaeCYsrLI2k

...and it's working swell. I can switch between the "Eras" just fine - I get different splash screens, etc. This is the part I'm confused about, however - I was under the impression that each era had campaign(s) associated with them, but perhaps that's not the case? No matter what Era I'm in, I get the same campaigns listed:

1943
1944
1945
Attack in the West
La Fortresse Europe
NEK Redux ETO Edition
Phoney War

I could be completely missing the point here, but should I expect to see different campaigns available for play depending on what era I'm in? In fact, other than the splash screen looking different, I can see no difference between the Eras within the game (plane sets, campaigns, etc). Am I overthinking this, or completely missing something here?

Thanks!

:kilroy:Hello and welcome nhill40.

Let's see, "more relevant eyes on it over here". I just may qualify, I think. :d

First of all, Campaigns were grouped generally, and not by Era. Simply follow what I state below, and you'll have no problems.

Ignore La Fortresse Europe and NEK Redux ETO Edition. They are NOT playable campaigns, but are required for proper operation of ETO. Please DO NOT DELETE these.

The Attack in the West and Phoney War campaigns are only for use in Era 1.

The 1943, 1944, and 1945 campaigns are to be used only in Eras, 3, 4, and 5, respectively. Ergo, 1943 Campaign in Era3, 1944 Campaign in Era 4, and 1945 Campaign in Era 5.

Simply start ETO in Era you wish to play a certain campaign, and then start the campaign in that Era. When you save the Campaign, simply name it to reflect the Campaign and Era it's in.

There are no Era 2 Campaigns included in ETO, however there are at least two BoB Campaigns available by third parties. One of them is here: http://www.mrjmaint.tzo.com/cfs3/index.html. I highly recommend this one. I am not certain of the present availability of the other one.

Plane sets and things other than airfields and global layers are also generally provided, and thus are not grouped by Eras.

Each Era has two splash screens. The first is smaller than the second, but otherwise, they should be basically identical.

If this is not the case, then you have a minor corruption, and that is easily fixable.

Simply look in the main game folder for a folder named CFS3 ETO Expansion READMEs.

The look for a document called ERA Files Restore Rev 1.40.rtf and follow the instructions therein EXACTLY. This will fix the problem.

If it's working for you now, then you're A-OK.

If you have any questions or problems, please return here and I'm sure someone will provide you with proper assistance.

Wow - great answer! Thanks for taking the time to respond in such detail, much appreciated!

So, the first Era actually starts with "Spanish Civil War" - aware of any campaigns covering that conflict?

Thanks again!
