Hi, y'all.

Just spent the majority of the past two nights getting ETO to work on my machine. Now that I have it up and running, the game crashes about 3 minutes after wheels-up in the 1940's campaign with the Hurricane. I'm still downloading the ETO 1.2, so I still have the basic expansion. What is going on with this? I did a free-flight in an ME-109 without problems. Could it be too much scenery and objects.

Running it on Vista 64 (possibly the root cause). And yes, I have placed it in XP Service pack II mode.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your spawn selector is not matched up to the era of the campaign. There are posts on this topic here that can explain this better but essentially the campaign mission is calling for a spawned aircraft which is unavaila ble, causing a crash. It's probably not your computer.

If your PC has more than 1 cpu there's a good chance that's the problem. Add this as a last line to the MASTERETOSTARTUP.BAT file: C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /C START /high /affinity 1 cfs3.exe
This will assign it a high priority and to run only on one cpu. Another good program to use is the free IOBit Game Booster. Running these eliminated my crashes and I can now "warp' without lockups!

wsmwsm probably has it right. Mine runs on 64-bit Windows 7 without a hitch and Vista 64 isn't that fragile: if it was your machine the game would crash straight away, not after 3 mins of flight.

Sounds like a winner to wsmwsm, and Hairyspin. I placed the spawn points without realizing this...so, more digging (after finals). Thanks y'all. This game looks great as it is, too! Never flown a Hurricane MK. I before, so I'm quite anxious.

Again thanks.

I've just noticed something. When I went to edit the BATCH files that is recommended in the installation guide, I can't save the BAT files, saying either the name is wrong or it is corrupted. What gives? can this be an issue as well.

BTW: just went through ever spawn options in the Spawn select, and it still crashes.

Glad you solved the problem.

The post I had in mind is entitled "Eto ctd" and was started back in October of this year. The replies include one that lays out the combinations of spawn selectors and eras to make sure you have a correct matchup and avoid crashes.

Ooops. See you posted in the interim. I don't know what the issue can be if it's not spawning.

You probably didn't untick Read-only property for each batch file. See the ETO Installation guide posted above for full details.
