ETO mission help!

Hello all. I've forgotten which era either 3 or 4, but there is a pilot rescue mission (What If) with a Catalina and an S-boat chasing you. How do you rescue the downed pilot on the platform out to sea without getting too close and exploding? I remember a similar mission regarding a Swordfish at the groundcrew site not long ago and I was never good at the rescue since then. What must you do to complete this mission successfully?
 
If I remember correctly, you have to hit the S-boat with your bombs..
I built these for the ETO 1.31 update I believe..
I will re-fly them and see to be sure..
Been too long ago to remember everything about these..OOOPPS!! :dizzy:
 
Yea, just flew it all again.
The mission briefing tells what you have to do ..(protect your downed pilot from the Germans)..

After I land ( near) the downed pilot, I row my inflatable Hobbit boat..over and get him, hobbits hate to get their feets wet.
Then head home in the Cat..
and sometimes I rescue the Germans too, okay maybe not..

You really have to row over and get him? I tried landing close to the pontoon, but He just stands there and stares at me. Can't you just grab him up and haul tail for home?

Yea he likes the pontoon, comes stocked with Mead..
Wave a bottle Rum at him, and I would bet he would swim over..
