Hello All. I am new to CFS 3 and ETO. Been doing the FS9 thing for about two years. Question, Can I pan view in CFS 3 ETO with a hat switch? Is there an equivalent to F1View or Active Camera for CFS3 and CFS ETO? Please advise :help:.

Can I pan view in CFS 3 ETO with a hat switch? Yes
Active Camera for CFS3 and CFS ETO? Yes: Control + ; will give you a screenshot.
If you look in your control options you will see all that CFS3 will do with your keypad and joy stick. You can program the commands on your joystick/keypad that is best for you.
There are some nice programs that you can add also that takes the game to the next level. "Trackir" or if you like "Free-Track" and "Shoot" a VOX program. 2 of the 3 are free programs. I use both and it turns CFS3 into a true simulator.
Hope this helps and welcome to the best Plane Sim site on the net! Ask away you will find you will get a fast respones to your ?/ posts.

OK. So which function do I want to set my hat switch to for panning. CFS3 has a "pan view" option. I did not see that in ETO. I am using an old CH Pro Pilot gameport and pedals. Thanks ahead!

I'm not familiar with CH Pro Pilot game port and pedals. Try going to your Printers and Other Hardware with start---- control panel. Click on your controller and all your controls should show up on the screen. Move your hat switch and it should show movement. You don't want your scroll lock on if you want snap view.

OK, what I really want is to pan from left to right smoothly with my hat switch like I do in FS9. Pan up and down as well. Just like I am looking around. Is that possible? Or, is there something like F1 view or Active Camera that will let me do it, as in FS9. Or, is that only possible in FS9 and CFS 2? Please advise. :help:

On your keyboard is the 'Scroll Lock' button, this toggles the view (using your hatswitch) from snap to pan. :)

ps. Do you have your hatswitch assigned by the way?

Hi dandog,

Panning via the hat switch is indeed possible in CFS3/ETO in fact any derivitive of CFS3.

It should be a stock assignment requiring no previous setup, however you have stated its not working for you, so we shall endevour to get it working.

As others above have said ther are two types of views snap view and smooth pan. to switch from snap to pan you need to press the scroll lock key on your key board. this will enable pan view were you can smoothly look in any direction you need. snap view will jump directly to the direction you move your hat switch.

please do the following, start your game, commence a flight and then open the menu tab in the upper right corner by pressing the escape key. from the list of options select controls.

this will open a control options window. in the first drop down menu at the top of the page, select view commands. then scroll down the list until you find the entry for panning. look to the right side of the page to see what key/joystick function it has been mapped to.

If you wish to change a key assignment you will first have to create a new user profile, simply select this option from the list available at the top, give it a name and then from here you can pick at the bottom of the screen to add an assignment.

Highlight the panning entry in the list then hit add assignment then move your hat switch to register the devise. then save and close.

now in back in your flight your new key assignment should be working.

in addition to the various control settings you can change via the method above (and there are lots of them) there are several defualt views available via the F series keys.

F4 is the one you need to cycle through to get chase, flyby and a couple of others cant remember, after the 4th press of F4 you will be back in your cockpit.

F6 cockpit views

F8 gunner positions.

The other F series keys are for targeting and friendly views of wingmen etc.

hope this helps,

regards Rob.
