ETO Submer_uboot no bdp-file

Hi

Is there something wrong with the Submer_uboot in ETO, since there is no bdp-file created?

I tried XMLWrench but it found no errors in the xdp.

Then I compared with sub.xdp and the Submer_uboot.xdp had no Gunstations information. So I copied the information from sub.xdp, but still no bdp was created.

Does anyone know how to fix the Submer_uboot? :blind:

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Yes, something is wrong. Since you've checked the xdp it may be something with naming. Does the xdp call for the correct model file and is that file located in the same folder as the xdp? (It can be in a sub folder of that folder and work fine too.) If it is a ship or vehicle, does the folder name match the name of the xdp? If it is an aircraft does the aircraft cfg call for the correct files?

Yes I have already checked so the file names are correct!

Mine has a bdp file, so it may be OK, Here you go:

Thanks! I compared the ETO SUBMER_Uboot.xdp with yours.

The only difference is:
ETO version: ShortName="SUBMER_Uboot"
ndicki version: ShortName="Submer U-boot"

I replaced the ETO files with yours, but without the bdp-file. I started CFS3, flew a mission and when I checked no bdp-file had been created.
If the files were good a bdp-file should have been created, right?

Pier,
Check the folder name for it in the Ships folder.

Gecko explained the problem when he said:
"If it is a ship or vehicle, does the folder name match the name of the xdp?"

Both of my ETO installs called the folder in Ships... Sumber_Uboat
This is incorrect as it does not match the XDP for a few reasons :)
As you know, the ShortName doesn't matter.

Good catch, though Pier! I like seeing the periscope and snorkel.

No. With ships, the m3d name has to correspond to the folder name. If it doesn't, it won't show - or at least, that's what I vaguely remember. Just come back to me...

And to make the point:

OK! If it is a ship or vehicle, does the folder name match the name of the M3D?
In this case xdp and m3d had the same. :)

AND when the Beaufighter hits the u-boot with its guns,
she will surface quite damaged and then procede to sink!
Beaufighters... :)

Is the trick to the submerged sub the "keel depth" entry in the xdp file?

By the way I don't buy the stuff about ship folder name needing to match anything :pop4:. I would look for the texture names called in the M3D file - that is where a typo can easily occur.

But of course I could be wrong :icon_eek:. blasted CFS3 'puter is terminal and will take a while to resuscitate :blind:

I just re;aoade ETO 1.40 so i could have a virgin copy to work with..
And I did discover this when checking the files after the reload..

I Haven't messed about with any of this yet, I did discover this u-boat is an older model.
Found it on the 2002-2004 CD's I have been sorting through..

Thanks for sorting this out..
I can now use it in missions..

Sorry missed that part about the folder name! :redf:

I noticed that the folder name was wrong, but I didn't know that the folder name was of any importance since it doesn't matter for aircraft.

I'll correct the folder name and see how it goes!

Thanks guys!

It's always a pleasure to come here asking questions and getting knowledge and friendly help! :applause:

I renamed the folder to Submer_uboot and now the bdp-file was created!

Thanks for your help! :salute:
