I just finished reading a great book "Bazooka Charlie" and thought I try to make a mission of an Maj. Carpenter's Piper L-4, (Rosie the Rocketer) attacking some Panthers under trees or in a village street.

But when I tried to use the mission builder in my European Theater install to make a Europe mission only the pacific bases show in the airfield selection. When I select 'European Theater' the MB locks up. I've read Cody Coyote's MB tute and find no Euro info. my airbases.dat in the info folder has nothing but bases in Europe and no pacific bases at all.

I'm sure I've missed something obvious but I don't see it. Anyone advise?
 
I guess my question here is if it is an only Europe install why does only Pacific airbases show in that selection window. Where does the MB get it's airfield data?

Do you have the Euro bases on your CFS2/Info/airbases.dat file? And are you using the expanded country.cfg and opareas.dat files? using those with the ETO/MTO installation uides should fix your problem. (I hope :wiggle:)
 
I would carefully check the airbases.dat file for errors, e.g. runway numbers out of sequence, duplicate ID numbers or perhaps the symbol at the end of the file is missing.
 
I completely redid my airbases.dat to make sure there were no duplicates and all were numbered in the correct sequence. Still get a CDT on clicking airbases in the MB.

Rather than clicking on airbases in MB, try clicking on the relevant area of operations and slew to the airfield you want using the hand tool. I've found if you have a lot of entries in the airbases.dat file you get a CTD when you select an airbase in MB. Another problem with MB is too many DPs in the OBJECTS_DP folder. I have a separate install for MB with all the weapon DPs removed and only the aircraft and ships needed for the missions I'm working on.

Stoney,

I sorted through your airbases.dat as requested. There were two big problems I noticed...

1) The end [] box at the very bottom of your file is required for the sim.

2) When you enter a runway ID, several of your entries were missing a right ] bracket...it needs to look like [runway.xx] with the bracket on both ends.

Fixing both of these should help your airbase.dat run error free.

Just make sure to delete the .txt extension after downloading so the filename just reads airbases.dat.
