Excellent WWII Corsair film

Wow. What a great movie. I must confess, it made me a little misty-eyed.

The USO show scenes were wonderful. Unfortunately all I could do is watch- couldn't hear anything since my laptop sound has been kaputt on me for the last year or so.

Any idea who the girls who came up to sing were?

Thanks for the link Capt K.

Interesting shots of Bougainville. I was surprised to see Marine Corsairs there so late in '44. Thanks for the HU Kurt. My wife's uncle used to tell the story of close support by RNZAF Corsairs which made it possible for his company to withdraw from Powton plantation to offshore landing craft.

That's too bad as the guy narrating the film is the pilot who took the films. His comments are interesting.

The girl singer is Carole Landis. It was Jack Benny's USO tour group.

Had to google on Carole Landis.

Turns out she did more USO shows and traveled more miles to do them than any other Hollywood actress.

Sadly, she died of an apparent suicide in 1948 at the age of 29.
