Experiences with Dynamic Campaign

I would be very interested to hear about people's experiences with the campaign engine. For me, this is of the utmost importance. Sounds like the FM's and dogfighting is excellent, but I'd like to learn more about the immersion aspect of the game if anyone cares to report!

Thank you.

It is the greatest strong point of the sim. Works just as good as the old RB3d campaign (which is high praise), and in fact better. The main reason I play OFF.

The Campaign are roughly 15 missions, but never scripted, as far as location or enemy contacts

The Immersion possible is scary, those who play totally legit should be commited. . Personal Opinion

With all the cheats available, it can be toned down

Without the arcade items . . Like the yellow brakets or the targetting cone . . they exist . . but I don't even know where the Keys Are

The campaigns are not 15 missions Gimpy! They are many more than (and not fixed) unless you die lol! If you set it for heavy campaign you can fly up to 3 missions A DAY.

thorny if you read the full features on our website you will get some idea of the depth :)

I think Gimpy means there are about 15 types of mission ...lone wolf, recon, rail attack, ground attack, etc.

Thorny, no two missions are ever the same. Infinite replayability.

One way to help you improve the immersion is to rename your squadron mates in the
OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\Pilots "Pilot#Dossier" file.
You could name your squadronmates after friends or even historical figures. You can edit their kill totals as well. I usually just clear mine out so they start with no kills.

The AI pilots should look like this in the folder:
Unteroffizier;Bruno;Beyer;1;0;Injured
Unteroffizier;Otto;Busch;0;0;Missing
Vizefeldwebel;Gustav;Eimbeck;0;0;Returning
Vizefeldwebel;Josef;Heiligers;0;0;In Service
Leutnant;Gustav;Nerst;0;0;In Service
Unteroffizier;Hans;Rody;0;0;In Service
Offizierstellvertreter;Joachim;Grussendorf;0;2;In Service
Leutnant;Douglas;Schnorr;1;0;On leave
Vizefeldwebel;Wilhelm;Wagner;0;0;In Service
Leutnant;Hans;Forstmann;0;0;In Service
Unteroffizier;Emil;Liebert;0;0;On leave
Leutnant;Reinhold;Maier;0;0;KIA

He nearly gave me a bloody heart-attack! :icon_lol:

The campaign engine is what makes this entire sim conversion absolutely shine.

Everything from flying with actual historical Aces and pilots of the squadron you have chosen, to seeing all sorts of interesting things pop up...from newspapers to information on how you are doing , there is a kill board keeping track of all kills...there is an actual claim system where you fill out a combat report and wait to get it confirmed.....it's really extraordinary. The sounds ...everything is just very immersive....you can get lost in its depth.

I am a huge fan of the sim in a very short time.

You can also use some creative copy paste to transfer yourself between squadrons, you just need to create a temporary pilot in the squadron you want to join in the same month that your current campaign is in so you can move over the pertinent data. I managed to transfer from Jasta 4 to Jasta 2 that way.

I've done some transfering like that too SirAndrew, although I didnt make a new pilot in the squadron I wanted to join. I just edited the original pilot data and typed in the squadron that I wanted to join in place of the squadron number Im already in. Everything works fine, logs, claims, stats, ect. The only thing with my way is that you have to enter and exit campaign once before the changes take place.
