External "Shine"_P3D vs FSX

Does P3D handle alpha channels differently now vs FSX? Case in point id Milton Shupes SOH_A-26. The entire exterior appears as though it's been run through the paint shop and given an overall gloss. . . .including the tires. . .which are chrome, lol. I checked the textures and there are no extreme alpha's connected with any of the textures.

Same problem in Dx10 Ed. With John's FsX conversion the tyres, wheels and prop hub are hyper chrome. I'd guess it needs a mdl fix as the alphas of the tyre and wheel textures are both white.

Yea, that's what was puzzling Roger. With no alphas I wasn't sure where the shine was coming from. Maybe a look-see using MDLMatXX will show me something.

Found the cure...some files are "256 Color" changing those to 32bit_888 eliminates the chrome look.:jump:

Just recently I updated Prepar3D to the latest version. Upon doing so I seem to have lost the polished chrome/aluminum reflection. I still haven't figured it out with what to replace to get it back.

Heck, I've been away from flight simulation for so long I can't remember half of what I knew when I was here.
I guess I won't be making graduation with the rest of the class.:adoration:

Indeed, it seems there's no way to enable the reflectivity :/
Even converting the texture to DXT3 doesn't help.

By the way, I just tried with the xp-72 out of curiosity. I'm really impressed by the quality of that virtual cockpit Milton :)
... even though it makes the non-clickability even more painful :a1089::dizzy:

Ah, one other thing: the XP-72 won't start with CTRL+E (the only way, since we can't click on the cockpit). Is that normal ?

Yes, one day, P3D 2.2+ will put me out of business.

In the aircraft.cfg, Piston Engine section, change these two parameters:

[piston_engine]
power_scalar = 0.9
cylinder_displacement = 155.714285714286
compression_ratio = 6.7
number_of_cylinders = 28
max_rated_rpm = 2700
max_rated_hp = 3450
fuel_metering_type = 2
cooling_type = 0
normalized_starter_torque = 1.032 //Change this back to 1.0

That will correct the issue.

I loaded up the Invader and saw the chrome tires. I thought I was going to have to drop this bird also until I saw your comment. Thanks a bunch!!! The Invader looks so much better in P3Dv2.
