F-4 gets new exhaust effects

I spent some time today working on my Alpha Sim F-4N and F-8E (both are the older CFS2/FS2002 freeware...nice external modeling, so-so VCs, solidly usable aircraft for free). The end result of this work being that I know have some limited understanding of XLM gauge coding (very very limited, but more than I knew this time yesterday) and both planes now have some really neat exhaust efffects. Working off of the gauges and effects that came with the Alpha Sim freeware F-105 package, I tweaked, tested, tweaked, tested, tweaked, tested, etc etc etc until I got what I wanted...which is a very "complex" arrangement of exhaust effects.

When the plane is off, their is of course nothing happening back by the engine nozzle(s). Hit the CONTROL E combo and the show begins. On the F-4N, once engine 1 fires up and the RPMs hit 30%, there appears at the nozzle a nice blue burn effect. As engine 2 fires up and passes 30% RPM, it too develops a lovely blue blush. Open the throttle to roughly 60% and the blue burn doubles in brightness as the engine produce more heat and exhaust. Hit the SHIFT F4 combo to initiate the after burner on these planes and all heck breaks lose as nice bright tongues of super hot flame and gases spew forth from the nozzles. Once the planes are airborne and pulling some Gs, nice long white contrals appear at the wing tips.

I will be working on all the freeware Alpha F-4s and F-8s and giving each variant these effects...then will work on getting the 2D and VC panels nicely equipped with gauges. Once that is done...when ever that will be as I am better at starting new projects than I am at finishing old ones...I will upload the entire mess for you all to use.

Attaching some screen shots of me firing up the F-4N in the colors of VMFA-251 preparing to catapault off the deck of the USS Stennis off the coast of San Diego.

Phantoms

Nice work Obio!

Back in the day, I saw Phantoms depart Da Nang AFB, Tague AFB and Clark AFB in full aferburn both day and night and the sight is just spectacular. Of course the decibel level was pretty overwhelming too!

The fire god Vulcan must have been very proud of the Phantom not to mention Thor for the Phantom's exploits on CAS missions.
