Peperez,

This is outstanding, and well-appreciated. Thanks!

Alternative prop discs for the Alcione

Hi everybody!:wavey:

I already have alternative prop discs ready and I am working on the gauge-controlled exhaust effect.

I should be uploading the whole pack by next week.

Cheers!

Nice job, as usual.

Merci

François

Thank you, François!

It's taking a little longer to put the package together than I expected because I decided to use all of Bismarck13's Italian bombs and get rid of the remaining stock payloads/pylons.

The new dp's have 50kg Italian bombs instead of Japanese 60kg, Thicko's Y4D wing pylons (my favourite generic wing pylon), Ground Crew's British torpedo carriers and Dbolt's Luftwaffe's torpedos. I also corrected the original positioning of the 250kg bombs so that they do not show through the bomb bay anymore. Too bad bomb bay doors are not animated!

Besides, I am including sound.cfg files for a 3-engine configuration, using Lawdog2360's sound packages. The Cant Piaggio radial engines were licensed derivatives of the French Gnome-Rhone, hence a 3-engine Lawdog2360's Gnome-Rhone sound.cfg.
Since I did a while ago the same job for Savoia-Marchetti aircrafts, equipped with Alfa Romeo radials (license-built Bristol Mercury engines) I will include a 3-engine Lawdog2360's Mercury sound.cfg.

Speaking of Piaggio: does anyone know where Piaggio's 2-stroke, single cylinder engine for their famous "Vespa" scooters was developed from?......;)

Cheers!

Kelticheart,
Use the "tailhook" command....

Thank you, The B24 Guy!

Now I also now the reason for tailhook entries in the aircraft.cfg, which made me raise an eyebrow......;)

One more preview shot for anybody's comment.

Cheers!

P.S.: Since no one answered to my trivia question about Piaggio's Vespa engine, I will.
The 2-stroke Vespa engine was developed from the 2-stroke starter engine equipping Piaggio big radials mounted on the 4-engine Piaggio P.108 bomber. :wavey:

No cigar!

Kelticheart,

Use the "tailhook" command.

Regards,
B24Guy

Sorry for being a pest, The B24 Guy!

Bomb bay doors on my Cant Z1007 models still do not open. I tested afterwards the tailhook command on some naval aircrafts and it works fine, but it has no effect on the Cant. I used both the keyboard combo keys Alt+H and the joystick button I assigned to tailhook operation.
CFS2 displays as usual the message telling me the tailhook is dropping but, still, the bay doors remain tightly shut.

The tailhook entries in the aircraft.cfg are in place, I checked each Cant airfile, but I could not see anything that would prevent the tailhook from working. I am probably missing something.

Am I the only one or someone else has this problem?

Cheers!

Interesting findings

Hi everybody!

Over the weekend I found a few interesting things and I have to correct my above comment about unsuccesfull attempts to have working bomb bay doors on Giuli's Cant Z1007.

First of all, I used primarily the single-tail (monoderiva) model to do my prop and exhaust experiments and I only used the twin-tail in R.S.I. livery to take the first screenshot I posted.

F. Giuli's original FS9 model did not include the single-tail model, I understand it was developed by F. Giuli following Pepe's request to have it for the CFS2 conversion.

Well, after restoring the arrestor hook entries in the aircraft.cfg, which at first I thought was an overlooked leftover from using some other aircraft flight model, I carried out a conversion of F. Giuli's FS9 models myself using Morton/Hsu's mk_MDL utility. I then discovered the single-tail model has no bomb bay door animation, while the twin-tail works just fine. Probably, something was left out by F. Giuli when he developed the single-tail model from the twin-tail. Same situation with Pepe's conversion models.

Not only, I had another glitch. The two models in Pepe's pack displayed on my pc a very strange undercarriage animation, where the whole gear retraction struts moves up and down when taxiing out of runways, instead of showing a normal shock absorber animation. This together with the retractable landing lights under both wings, which not only remained partly retracted at a 45° angle instead of completely out of the wings, they also moved up and down with the retraction struts. Quite disturbing to watch.

On the other hand, the original Giuli's models converted by me displayed instead perfect landing gear and bomb bay animations.

So I decided to run both aircraft model files, converted by Pepe, through mk_MDL to do an extra fix of CFS2 animations, a procedure that helped a lot in the past fixing some weird things in converted planes. The two resulting new *.mdl files had both fixed shock absorber animation, fully extended landing lights under the wings which do not move with the shock absorbers, yet no working bomb doors on the "monoderiva" model.

Please, let me know what do you think.

Cheers!

Hi mvg3d! I wish you had posted this great info before, I just uploaded my pack....but I think Rami will be able to help. :wiggle:

RAMI:

could you please put on hold my upload until I correct all dp files
according to this historical scheme for the four models uploaded by Pepe?

Thank you!
