F1 Leaderboard 2012

Lewis is taking his "consistency" target very seriously... 3 thirds = leader!

Consistency is always a big factor and that chart shows another little oddity too. Only three drivers have scored points in all three races so far.

It's nice to see some movement and variety in the leader board this year instead of the same old names winning every race.

Button as always, proving the exception to the rule: 2/3 = 2nd!
The huge points gap between winning and everything else is a real motivator to go for #1.
I think that's healthy for the sport.

Wonder if Felipe is going to fail to score a single point...

Nope, Felipe got two points!
Red Bull on a strong rebound... McLaren seemed to lose direction, now 2 & 4
Good to see Lotus up there in the top 8.

Alonso has nursed that dog of a Ferrari, somehow, into fifth position

5 Races, 5 Winners!

...and just look who's showed up in shared top spot!

Button is flagging for some reason, otherwise we'd have 5 F1 champions in the top 5 spots!

6 Races, 6 Winners

... Four won from the front.
The Aero/tyre combination seems to favour clear air more than ever.
A great win for Mark, pops him up where he belongs.

Button has again gone into that midseason daze that seems to afflict him every year.

I do fancy Alonso's chances this season...

7 from 7!

Hamilton back in front; his season is developing nicely.
Rosberg is showing a similar, solid performance: 5th ain't bad.
Ferrari look like they are sorting the car, Massa actually passing instead of being passed!
If Grosjean can keep it on track, he looks better than Raikkonen.

What to say about the "other" team members Schumacher and Button??
The two most coherent teams are doing well: Red Bull leading and Lotus, a surprise third.

Alonso looking every bit the champion.
Astonishingly Webber in second place, despite an absolutely lacklustre performance at Valencia.
Grosjean under-placed, should be around fifth.

Webber easing a little closer to Alonso, promotions for Vettel and Raikkonen.
Ferrari is now second to Red Bull with Massa having woken up a little.

Round 10: Germany

Vettel's demotion to 5th for passing off track, hurt quite a bit...
Lucky for him Webber and Hamilton had a pretty miserable day.
Alonso can now have a DNF and still lead.

Round 11: Hungary

Eight drivers still in it, realistically.
Nothing between P2-P5 and again P6-P8; still plenty of racing left.
Actually if you think about it, it is pretty neatly split into 3 x 8 batches of competition...
Pic - Vergne, Hulkenberg - Perez, and then the top 8.
