Did Ricciardo make a mistake by jumping to McLaren for 2021?
Renault has been looking quite quick these days.....
 
I wonder if he decided to depart when one of the management commented that Renault wanted to field only 'French' drivers?

Yes, despite the fact that the new rules are delayed, mcLaren will nevertheless switch to mercedes engines. (But of course nothing is really certain in F1).

By the way, I loved Ricciardo's response when he was informed on the time penalty he receives after not taking the long run.

Yah...Out of all the corners to "let Ricciardo by" - why that one?
 
Speaking of anyone making mistakes, Carlos Sainz should be a very unhappy bunny!
Sad to see such a talented driver heading into a team on the way down.

Mind you the running in to the wall at turn 2 was a silly error.

As for Dani Ric, really showing his talent this season and as you say the comment on the penalty was pure class.

Unlike Hamilton's whining!
I think Carlos' error was compounded by the poor layout of the area compounded by the lack of visibility from the current generation of cars.

There have been tons of official announcements from both sides (Renault and himself), even official pictures from him visiting Renault's F1 factory wearing an official Renault firesuit... That's far more than speculation at this point!
 
Do you mean "Ricardo" (Desi Arnaz), husband of Lucy?
