Qualifying was a bit strange especially with Mercedes taking pole.
Nasty shunt for Franco in the Williams.
I don't dislike the circuit layout but running a race in chilly conditions with Desert sand blowing onto it is just not a good idea.
Good to see Yuki-San cleaning Lawson's clock, with Checo faxing his performance in (again) and the Red Cars look menacing.
Stroll was his usual dismal self, and the MacLarens were seemingly off the pace.

NIce summary. Due to the time differences I only watched the summaries of the free training sessions and qualification. Personally ,I thought it was a bit odd that only Red Bull did spend most of the time trying to get the car working on the Medium tires.

Obviously like all other teams they did have grip on the soft, but were struggling on the harder tires. I wonder how the other teams will perform on the mediums and hard tires. It seems they have enough faith that it will work for them.....

Cheers,

Huub/Ferry,
BIG CONGRATS for #4! 🏆🏆🏆🏆

The difference between Max and Checo was definitely shown this season with a car that gave them fits quite often!

Thanks Ed, but I can asure you I have contributed absolutely nothing to Verstappen's success. I recently watched an interview with Adrian Newey and Alexander Albon over Max Verstappen. It is clear he is a very talented and special driver. But due to the way Formula One is developing I slowly loose my interest. Which is quite odd as I closely follow F1 from the early eighties already (On the BBC with Murray Walker and "the chain" from Fleetwood Mac).

About McLaren, I really wonder why they suddenly much became slower after there were accused of putting water in their tires...... Either they did and stopped. Or did didn't, but tried it and became slower. McLaren is known as a "British team, but did nobody ever notice the Kiwi in the logo from McLaren?

Actually I do have a soft spot for Ferrari, although they made an awful lot of weird mistakes over the last years.
And I'm more pleased with 19 years old Collin Veijer's third place in the Moto3 championship. Quite an achievement for a long and "heavy" northern European. He will be on a Red Bull KTM in the Moto2 next year. Hopefully he can adjust.

Cheers,
Huub
