F1: What Do You Think?

1) Get rid of the diffuser.
2) Get rid of DRS.
3) Make the tires harder.
-F1 should do all three of these!

The diffuser is a consequence of choices made, and a challenging problem for all teams.

Formula One is already boring compared to motor racing, mainly due to the lack of overtaking. Without DRS it would get even worse.

Making tires harder would leave to less grip and perhaps some more entertainment on the track. Softer tires pushes team into strategies, which is nice for those who understand the sport, but just confusing for the average follower.

But that is just my personal view on things,

Cheers,
Huub

I fully agree with you Huub. I get the feeling F1 is slowly eating itself with regulations, much like the E.U.

Have a race where the drivers are blindfolded and a member of each team gives their driver directions over the radio..... It would, at least, do away with the 'slot-car' syndrome.

Graham.

Maybe it's time to go back to the golden years of the 60's with no wings, no anti-lock brakes, no launch control systems and fully manual transmissions! That would sort out the real 'drivers' from the aim it and go brigade!

The cars should be lighter and the engines less complex, but otherwise I'm quite happy with the racing this season.

I think the issue at hand is that "freehand" days with an unlimited bank account are gone...
Classic F1 was a designers dream (hence arguable why the manufacturers championship is arguably a better TEAM win than the drivers championship due to the $$ that it brings in).

But now, one could argue that all the cars look alike in part, due slow implementation of rules over the past few decades that have put designers into a box now....
And then if someone does design something earth shattering (in recent times, think "Brawn"), then all the other teams scream "foul".....

Brawn IMHO was arguably the last 'little team' that moved up the food chain and scored big!
And with designers now forced into a box, it's extremely difficult for some young designer to "think outside the box".

Innovation comes at cost and with the reduction of cost, F1 is slowly becoming more "spec" Indycar like.....
