• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

F22 and a man named George Grant

Do any of you know who Goerge Grant is? and what he had to do with saving the F22 program?this man is a friend of my dads and the roumor is.he supposedly went to congress or whomever and "saved" the F22 program when it was to be scrapped years ago..im not talking reciently..back when it was first being on the work table..it was scarpped and brought back...he claims he went t o bat for it and used his own money to do so..i cant find a thing on the net about it..but my dad swears its true,as do some of the ex-lockheed skunkworks employees who are members of the local elks and friends of dads now.like i say ive searched and cant find a thing....
 
If it's some back-room happenings at Skunkworks - you're NOT GOING to find anything about it on the internet, or elsewhere!

There are a lot of politics involved in the military. It's sad, but true. Lots of issues are resolved behind closed doors, long before any official "hearing" is conducted.

I know one of the manouverings that was out there was the FA-22. I forget what project suffered at the hands of that idea. It's not a bad idea, it was simply never followed through with.

Way back, the Blackbird sucked funds away from the F-108 project when the YF-12A/C program was alive. Three A-12s were modified into fighters and were then called the YF-12. Then, they went after a bomber (perhaps the XB-70, I don't recall) and tried to fund a bomber with it. Finally, it was turned into a reconnaisance platform and the SR-71 was born.
