F4U-4 Corsair

Is there a freeware F4U-4 Corsair out there?

Mike

Heartily recommend the donationware versions - fantastic. Alpha Bleu Ciel's model is excellent - focusing on the F4U-7 (French) version. Upward-angled engine mount, chin intake, and pilot with later bone-dome helmet give you a very authentic -7 rendition. A few repaints for it, too.

Depends on what era you like. The Donationware covers the early period well (starting with the -1 birdcage models)

Good luck!

Thanks for the pointers gentlemen. I have the Alpha Bleu F4U-7/AU-1 installed and I agree it is fantastic. I have been trying to search for the ex donationware package on here but have not been able to find it, please could you give me a course to steer Tom?

Mike

Thank you David, I've been through that link and have the early Corsairs but I am now looking for the F4U-4 which is not listed there. Apparently it was Donationware but I can't find it listed now.

Mike,
I tried to help but without success. The file you want is still listed in the Archive but unfortunately, like so many others, the link is broken. For whatever reason, that version also never got uploaded to the new file Library.

If you'd like to send me a PM with your email address, I will try to send you the file that way, but note that it's around 80 Mb so that may not work,
regards,
Ro

For the ex-donationware -4, it is still in the warbird archive under the author name of SOH_Donationware. It should be on the top of page three.

btw I have used a CFS2 model for the french repaints (4 bladed prop). Morten has made 4 repaints for CFS2 in french liverys. But I guess there also US versions on his site...

oh !!! Dont forget to take a look at his AS Beaufighter, Typhoon and freeware Lightning repaints. Also to his Me109 desert paints for the SU freeware...

Best is, take a look to ALL his repaints ;-)

Tom,
I tried to send you the file, but even at 14 Mb, it couldn't be delivered - probably because you gave me a hotmail address,
Ro

I think that listing under SOH Donationware must have been destroyed by the hackers. I did notice that some Donationware is listed and available under other headings. I now have the F4U-4 thanks to the kindness of a fellow member. Would it be acceptable for someone to upload this package again or must it be done by the original authors?

It seems that the contents of the Library, new contributions excepted, is a rather touchy subject. I will simply say that I cannot understand why there is no evidence that anything is happening about restoring files lost before or as a consequence of the move to the "new" servers earlier this year. Only on the CFS2 side of the house does anything appear to have happened, and that due to the efforts of Rami and a few individuals willing to spend time restoring files rather than doing other things.

I would be happy to re-upload this particular file, but, unless someone on the admin side is willing to get involved and reassign files to the originator's username, the result is going to start making the Library contents seem disorganised,
regards,
Ro

Yep, I used that one for a RTW racer for quite a while. Good range with the two 150 gallon tanks, fast enough, good rate of climb and I thought a pretty realistic flyer. Gramp's effort at upping the poly counts to near the FS9 limit from his previous Corsairs.

Cheers: T

Maybe the Corsair Gods are smiling on me, because I went back to see if some of the other files gave out 404 messages and I thought I would try it once more and behold... the link was good!
I now have the F4U-4 Corsair again!
Thank you who ever fixed this problem.
