Vought F4U-1D Corsair flown by Lt.(JG) Doris "Chico" Freeman VF-84, CV-17 USS Bunker Hill, March 6, 1945. Freman scored 2 victories flying with VF-17. Along with a number of VF-17 veterans, he joined VF-84 for a second tour aboard the carrier Bunker Hill. He scored another 3 victories with VF-84, but was killed along with some 600 crewmen of the Bunker Hill when she was hit by 2 kamikaze aircraft on May 11, 1945.
