F7F-3 Tigercat Eligibility

SOH-CM-2022
This is directed at any Committee Member who knows what's going on with this aircraft. Is it the Committees intention to allow the "Native FSX" version done by Gordon to be permitted in this upcoming Race or is it not? It would be nice to know now and not have it drag out until just before Race day and then simply disallow it for lack of time.

Hi Ed. We are considering it. The "Native" F7F-3S is slightly faster than the previous Port-over F7F-3 and might be a very competitive "normal" aircraft. However, as you may know, there is some uncertainty among the developers about the flight dynamics for the "Native FSX" F7F. The Executive Committee is trying to get this straight--with the active cooperation of the developers. At this moment, the matter has yet to be resolved.

Just to bring everyone up to date, there has been significant additional work done on the flight dynamics by my development team. There is currently an aircraft.cfg file that produces an accurate cruise speed of 222 MPH @ 5000' using factory spec MAP/RPM.

I d/l this FDE update and hope that I didn't do any harm in unloading it in the F7-3 Two Seat. After I got it and installed it to the 2 Seat version, it became apparent that it was meant for the
silver single seat or at least that is what Milton says....

Hopefully this works... FSX native Flight model for the RTW. Please test.

Note that the guns and ammo must be manually removed for a lighter aircraft in the "load" section.

You can download the Blue Single Seat and add its [fltsim] section and texture folder to the RTWR version I suppose.

You must use the RTWR version's aircraft.cfg and .air file to be legal with no changes except for adding other liveries, AFAIK.

Will the textures for the FSX native Tigercat work on the WIP Tigercat ?

Will these :

Work on this:

Also, will downloading the full FS9 package fix the inop VHF radio in the wip version ?

Post #9 above clarifies which releases are accepted and only these may be used. I will post the official announcement here as well:

F7F Tigercat models approved for use in 2016:
1. The existing AlphaSim F7F-3N (w/ TFalley FM optional) and Milton Shupe F7F-3(variously known as 2013/-300/WIP) models currently on the White List.
2. F7F-3 for FS9 by Milton Shupe (2015) -single-seat
3. F7F-3 Tigercat "Metal" Native for FSX and P3D by Milton Shupe and Gordon Madison (2015) -single-seat
4. F7F-3 Tigercat Native for FSX and P3D (Blue) by Milton Shupe and Gordon Madison (2015) -single-seat

Links to the approved 2015 models are provided below.

NOTE: The 2015 models, as originally released, are noticeably faster than the previously-approved versions. While this would normally not be acceptable the widespread adoption of these models has made the current decision necessary.
Tom Falley provided (Feb. 3rd on SOH) a revised FDE for the 2015 Shupe/Madison F7F-3 Single Seat model for FSX. This new FDE revision is not approved for use in 2016. This was tested and while the performance has been adjusted to values close to the (currently approved) 2013 FS9/FSX-ported model, it only applies to the FSX version and the 2015 FS9 version still remains unadjusted but as fast as the unmodified FSX model. This inequality weighed on the decision.

The Shupe/Madison FSX "La Patrona" model is prohibited. This model has a different FM which is unacceptably fast in any case.
Pilots considering the two-seat and night-fighter versions are advised that these are tested to be slower - Interchanging and/or blending of .air and.cfg files is not allowed.

The Committee examined several factors in making this decision: a) The previously-noted adoption of the newer model by pilots; b) the late date of availability of revisions; c) the revision resolves one issue but not all; d) the potential for confusion with a multiplicity of models/mods/performance indicated that uniformity was more important than absolute conformity to 'spec' at this time.

For clarity: when posting a flight using any of the above models, the specific model should be identified. Further, all the above models are considered to be of one type (F7F) within the Rules.

Thank you very much, Mr. Shupe! That helps me, if no-one else, figure out which models to use!
And I do love this plane :D
