Fair warning: Boeing's newest employee!

... Me!

Needless to say, I suffered a few episodes of :faint:when I got the news. But anyway, next time you see a Boeing fly by, who knows? A fellow Outhouse-sketeer may have had a hand in designing it! :jump:

I'll be at the Ridley Park facility outside of Philly International Airport, doing drafting work. I'm not sure exactly which project I'll be put on just yet, but that's Boeing's Rotorcraft division and the major products are Chinook and V-22, so odds are it'll be one of those two.

The factory tour during my interview a couple weeks ago was great, seeing them build both those aircraft up-close & personal. It's going to be great helping out on whatever part I'm given.

An American, employed by an American corporation, in America...

Well, I'll tell you what, Lionheart: I don't want this thread getting dumped on the Saloon, but on the interview/tour they gave me (four and a half hours long! Do you think they were interested, or what?), I can't tell you how heartening it was to see so many of those Americans hard at work -- both blue- and white-collar, on the factory floor and in the design/engineering section alike -- designing the most advanced, best quality products of their kind in the world... Say what you want about what Detroit does for cars or other countries making refridgerators, but anyone who says America can't compete in designing and manufacturing top-notch products hasn't seen what we do with aerospace. It's a real privilege to be joining that sort of environment.

That said, even though I'll be on CATIA instead of gmax/3DSMax, I'm counting on you -- an expert polygon manipulator -- for advice should I run into any particularly troublesome design issues. j/k :costumes:

Congrats Lazer.... you won't be too far away from us here at KILG. There's a modified Blackhawk here that's being tested out of the Boeing hangar. Won't be long I magine and it'll be back in the air for more workouts. Once they get that hangar door fixed that the high winds we had took down. :costumes:

social security office snuffy

Now that was funny!

Next time I have to open a panel two sizes too small with ten different tools, I'm comin' after you!:173go1:

Congratulations on the job and always keep in mind the poor sod who has to repair these marvels of engineering. If I had a nickel for every curse I uttered about design engineers I could be happily retired by now instead of being on disability with a busted-up body.:kilroy:

Regards, Rob:ernae:

Congrats! I had a call from a Boeing contractor this past week about a job. I sure hope to get back to work soon. It's been a long four months.

I'm hoping he can get 'em to bring back the B307 Stratoliner

I'll see what I can do, Willy. I'll make an appointment to march on the office of Boeing's president as soon as I officially start, okay? :icon_lol:

I'll be happy just to finally be able to afford A2A's B377. I'll see about bringing that one back, too.

Snuffy: www.boeing.com Don't listen to Daveroo. He's... well, you know... ;)

Piglet, don't look at me. You're the expert... the expert that still hasn't put an X-29 on his mile-long list... :d

viking, although Boeing seems to have a really nice education reimbursement program, I'm not an engineer yet, just a CAD designer. I'll keep that in mind regardless.

Drake, good luck. I don't have a house or a family yet, but if my nine month search on a retail worker bee salary has been any indication, someone who does have those needs must be having a helluva worse time.
